why bother? ive never even heard about anyone getting done for being derestricted on an A2 licence.
ive been pulled over countless times in my restriction period, even told them it was full power and they either dont know the law, or dont care.
at 28 you're even less likely to get done for it.
dont pump unneccesary money into an already stupidly complex examining process ____________________ Blue_SV650S wrote: it was a sh1te wheelie, but it proves that he can get it up in 3rd and can do angles. There is no way of proving its a low power bike, unless the Police decide to impound it and take it apart, only then discovering the restriction.
My friend would just be in a viz vest standing on the side, like all the instuctors do. The examiner thought I had an instructor when I came to do my A2, it was just a random in a viz sitting in one of the chairs waiting for someone else to finish their test.
| TomCB wrote: | o you'd rather go about committing fraud against a government agency, than take a test without insurance/license?
fraud option = a hefty fine, maybe even time inside
no insurance/license = points, fine and ban |
Obviously not the brightest bean, no insurance/license? Who said I'm not going to have insurance, a restricted bike or an A2 license?
Fraud option? Fraud is that I need to pay an independent instructor to take my test?
What you mean I turn up, he discovers that my mate in a jacket is not an instructor, I say I came up in a restricted bike. He tells me I need an instructor, and the bike is not powerful enough and doesn't allow me to take the test, and thats the end of that. None of the nonsense fear mongering above.
Just how are they going to prove fraud? No court would possibly charge me over something so presumptuous (according to the lawyer in my family), if I came in a restricted bike and tried to do my test and they found out they would just not let me take it.
| TomCB wrote: | would think the risk is the same, but which would you like to be caught doing? riding unrestricted or attempting to defraud the DSA?
he already has a license, and obviously doesn't care enough about the law to ride restricted. so why bother spending more money? |
This is all presumptuous. If the above were true, just why would I be posting this?
I don't want opinions from people who don't know and which are clearly wrong, what I'm trying to find out is, whether or not there are unforseen consequences like having to have an instructors code or number written in before you start your test? Or quote...

Most examiners know all the instructors well at my local test centre would be the immediate issue around here... |
This is the kind of help I need.
Other option is getting a restrictor kit fitted by a garage like TomCB said. Taking the bike home and then removing it myself. Or just leaving the restriction sounds like too much effort all this anyway, I'm not that crazy about bikes. |

from the very start, you need to do both module1 and 2 on a motorcycle with a higher BHP than 46.6 to get your DAS qualification....am really not sure how difficult it is to de-restrict your machine, but you can rest assured that the DSA have a list of motorcycles that meet the requirements whether it be for DAS, A2 or A1, so on the day of the test lots of this information is recorded by the examiner.....i,ve never had to book a test like yourself as i trainer book tests for my students, so am not sure how they answer the phone to joe public, so am really not sure if they,d take a "Big Bike Mod.2" because i think you need your instructor information.....and yes all the examiners do recognise all the instructors because when i was the new kid on the block i got some strange looks from the examiners until they knew i was a new instructor....give it a try, borrow a mates 46.6bhp and get it insured for a month, get your mate to take you up on the back the bike, put the L plates on then your insured to take both your modules......... |
