Hey.

Recently been looking at jackets and been wondering if anything like the Fox Racing Access Jacket (attached) is out for the road. Meaning material that won't be completely ruined in the event of a crash, has shoulder and elbow (maybe even back) armour, and if possible waterproof?

Mainly looking at fashion rather than function so for instance if this Fox jacket wont ruin and has padding, that would be ideal.

Alternatively, I quite like the look of the white camo jackets. Any comments about them?

Thanks again peeps Thumbs Up

Blue_SV650S's Off road crash

That is what MX gear is designed for coming off on. Notice the soft wet mud, pretty much zero abrasion, if you feel comfortable throwing your self down the road wearing the same gear feel free.

I would stick with proper road gear, the answer will be the same for everything except boots.

Yeah, I know that it is meant for mud but I wondered if anything with that sort of styling is available on any road jackets? And with the Alpinestars Sniper I meant all over camo, not too keen on the looks of that one. Thanks anyway Thumbs Up

You can wear what ever you like on the road, jacket wise.

Best bet hit somewhere like HG or JS who have masses of jackets to try. Thumbs Up

The choice is yours, as its your body that will hit the ground in a off. Personally, and that seems to be the jist of most replies. Protection wins out over fashion every time.....

You will look a even bigger dick with road rash all over you.....

I can assure you that the nurses, love a good case of road rash. As it allows them to hone thier scrubbing skills as they get all the debris out of your skin Embarassed

As i said who cares what you look like on a bike...

Most/All motocross and enduro jackets require a seperate body armour underneath.

I hate to post the same thing twice but this is all coming across a bit daft. Get a proper jacket that looks like whatever and then tracksuit jacket that fits your style over it?

Trust me, anyone worth shit will respect you more looking like iron man wearing bulky gear than trying to get away with the minimum possible... 50cc or 1000cc is irrelevant, in the city you'll be doing the exact same speed and have roughly the same chance of coming off.

Not to mention half the time when you're not on the bike noone knows anyway Razz

If it's that much of an issue, buy the draggin' jeans kevlar undersuit and wear whatever you like on top!

Wear what you feel comfortable in, although if it hasn't got adequate protection then it's going to hurt when you crash. Best thing to do is try things on in shops, then order online for better prices.

I have found the perfect jacket! The Shift Trooper Jacket.

However, I am not sure what colour to get. The orange/yellow is too full on while the others are great. I think this jacket will be fine in summer with out the thermal liner but we shall see. Black wouldn't really help summer riding though so white will be better. Also, I think the white looks better but will it get dirty, easy? And also, is the white too bright/full on if you know what I mean. Sure, it will be better for visibilty but so are hi viz veztz. Nuff said...

Has anyone got this jacket? Or can recommend one fairly similar?

Thanks again guys Mr. Green

I wonders if something like this would be ok under one of the more lightly armoured jackets

https://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Motorcycle-Motorbike-Motocross-Body-Armour-Protector-M_W0QQitemZ220668627259QQcmdZViewItem?rvr_id=148175333167&rvr_id=148175333167&cguid=3aa7c09e12b0a0e203c14f81ffdb1618

Something like that under the top with a good set of Kevlar jeans. As long as the top has good abrasion resistance would that be ok?

I wont be wearing one of them unless im riding enduro or motocross, sorry. Im after more of the abrasion resistance and waterproofing more than impact. Although the first two usually come with the third. What do you think of the Shift?

Wear what you like - there are no rules yet!!! Nanny hasn't got so far as to creating laws on clothing...although it won't be too long!!!

Most sensible people would recommend sturdy boots, gloves and lid. What you wear in between is personal choice.

Us oldies tend not to wear the over exaggerated protective gear, but then we've been on the road a lot longer than kevlar has been around!!! Laughing

Leather then is it? Haha. I just try to make it look as least like a jacket as possible. Whats your verdict?

I'm not sure it's made for enduro or motocross? I'm not sure what it's made for at all Confused.
Motocross, people tend to go for armour to protect from roost, then maybe elbow armour with that; on top of that all, just a simple thin 'jersey', don't think I've really seen motocross people wearing jackets like that.
Enduro and trail riders may often have waterproof jackets, usually for use with seperate armour, which are designed to be covered in mud spat out from the rider infront, half submerssed in water and still carry enough kit around them that it'd tempt a paratrooper.

Think those are just fashion jackets, though it does mention riding. Maybe more to be worn while watching motocross?

Incidentally, I have often worn enduro armour suits under a textile jacket (some warmth/waterproofness) with the armour left in due to laziness and done ok. Mostly it shows your textiles are way too loose normally Razz.

G, thanks for the comments but your missing the point a bit.

Im after a jacket for the road that is fairly fashionable and looks like the fox one at the top. Just after any comments on the Shift Trooper or anyone who can recommend another jacket thats the same sort of thing?

Thanks Mr. Green

Stop being a bender and buy a proper jacket, afterall this is your safety your talking about.
Dont think that because your riding a 50 you dont need as much protection, your still going to do yourself some serious damage if you come off.
Im 17, ride a Derbi Senda and have a proper Hein gericke jacket (cant remember what its called) and it looks fine (because im awesome).

Plus it'll be a good investment for when you get a proper bike Wink.

HTH yer bender Thumbs Up

You seem to be wanting to look the typical chav on a ped. So just go to your local market and buy a £20 Mckenzie jacket. I'd suggest one of those shiney plastic ones that will melt into the roadrash quite nicely.

Thumbs Up
