Evening All

I'm after a tank bag or tail pack for my Honda XR 125 I don't need anything too big as it will only be used for taking my lunch and a few other bits to work and maybe getting a bit of shopping on the way home.

It will need to be waterproof or come with a waterproof cover, funds are a bit tight at the moment so the cheaper the better.

Cheers

Jon

Kriega US20.

It's fully waterproof since i've tested it on numerous occasions. I use it for that exact purpose.

I've got both the US10 and US20

I can put a whole week's shopping into both of em. US10 can happily swallow my trainers and gym kit (bar towel). Combined, US10+US20 gives me enough space for a week away.

US10 is 35 quid and US20 is 55 i think. Pricey but worth it. They're modular too. U can lash a US20 + US10 in my configuration OR you can lash 2 US10's onto a US20 and go touring in europe.

I strap my US10 onto the back of my Kriega R20 rucksack if I want to go away on business trips on the bike (laptop + work shoes + 2 pairs of trousers/jeans, change of underwear, 2 work shirts and 2 t shirts and toiletries).

It's very easy to put on - using seat belt clips. You basically take your seat off and attach the straps underneath and it clips on and off easily.

I usually stash the US10 under my pillion seat for those instances where I'm off for a ride and want to pop to the shops on the way back to get say a 6 pack of beer or a couple of pints of milk and a half dozen eggs.

Hi

Thanks for the quick reply and pics.

That looks ideal, you say it clips on and off do the clips stay attached to the bike? Did you use your US10 on your XR? would it fit on the rear rack?

Cheers

It literally clips on and off. I didn't use the US20 on the XR but as far as i remember the rack is arranged so that you can thread the straps through them. Tighten the straps once you've clipped the tailpack on and bob's your uncle! The rack will happily take it... if not, you can thread the straps under your seat.

Just for scale compared to the rest of the luggage... this is the US20/10 on the back of the blade

I'm another fan of Kriega kit - it's the only thing I use on the offroad bike. Just wish I could have afforded the US10 and US20 for the panniers for this summer's trip. I used 4 ex-Army 15 litre panniers and they took a real bashing. I'm definitely saving up to buy them ready for my next trip.

Kriega kit isn't cheap, but you get what you pay for and they have a good warranty/guarantee should you have any problems, which makes them an absolute win! Thumbs Up

These guys are brilliant to deal with if you chose to buy them online as well. Nothing is too much trouble for them Thumbs Up

They've beaten me to it- the us10/20 (or indeed 40/50, through the magic of straps!) is win.

The other little gem I was introduced to are the Rok Straps. They are brilliant and I leave them on the offroader, so it's easy to get stuff on and off without faffing about with the straps too long/short etc.

Not sure how you'd get by leaving them on your bike if you're parked up somewhere though, as I strongly suspect they'd be pinched! Rolling Eyes

I use Zuru straps like these, much easier than bungee cords and they dont have metal parts that scratch !!

If you have a small rucksack then buy a cargo net to go over the rucksack and pillion seat Thumbs Up

+1 for the Zuru Link straps. They're pretty useful. They're elastic enough to stretch over your seat to link 2 panniers together but they don't scuff your bodywork under the tension.
