Was at brands today (yesterday) and I saw the oddest thing ... Confused

Actual electric bikes racing - for real - Shocked

The sound (or lack thereof) was a bit eerie to be honest! - see https://www.bikechatforums.com//files/video-2010-10-02-17-39-13_.wmv (right click - save as to play - note it is actually a 3gp file (changed extension for it to upload to BCF Smile).

(apologise, it was only on my mobi, so not the best quality - but you will get the idea!).

For those that are not aware (like me before today) here is some more info .. https://www.egrandprix.com/

£26,000 a bike. Shocked.

Whilst it may be 'green' and such, I want to hear a howling 'zorst.

looking on the website, I found this https://www.egrandprix.tv/index.php?play=40 ... on-board vid - very odd noise .. for a bike Gagged

Wonder if it has engine braking? I guess the best way to get it would be to us the motor in reverse and charge the battery from it thus putting a load (resistance) on the motor??? Thinking

Suppose I should read the blurb as it might say in there!?!? Very Happy

Apparantly the engine braking can feel quite unusual - as unlike an ICE bike where you accerate to the speed you want by turning the throttle, then back off to coast on an Electric bike it's a case of holding the throttle at the specified speed - so even a little twitch back will see you decelerating.

There were supposed to have some (dirt versions, of course) to try out at enduroland, but I was too busy trying to find where I could a new tyre for my van.

If electric power is the future, then I'm glad I'm already over the hill, no way would I want a life dominated by windings and cells. Petrol, please!

Like anything, you'd get used to it if it was the only way ...

I have no problem with the concept of electric, but I really loathe how people call them 'green'/'zero carbon' ... Folded arms

I hate the man who invented the word 'green' for this context. It's thoroughly overused and bloody annoying!

Indeed, very irksome the way it gets bandied about so much "oh look, our vehicle saved one kitten's worth of carbon dioxide if you use it for twenty years, just ignore that it actually put another twenty kitten's worth in to the atmosphere while building it."

And even 'zero emissions' is irksome - because of cause while it doesn't pollute the town centre, it does poluute elsewhere.
Wind farms, you say? What about the massive amounts of concrete used for those?
Solar panels? Well, apart from it being a bit of a joke that they'd do anything useful, still got to make them and seems they often don't last that long.
