Well been on a good 150 mile run on my new to me bike, however I feel very clunky / jerky around the town 30mph.

As I am not that used to this type of bike I am guessing I am a bit keen on getting up through the gears would i be right in saying this?

should I be sitting in 2nd 3rd about the town?

More or less the same engine as my NTV600 had and that was fine in top gear down to about 35mph ish and then it started to get a bit clunky.

4th around town was fine if you didn't want to accelerate quickly.

How'd you mean jerky? Snatchy on the throttle? If so thats what bigger bikes can be like. There is fair amount of engine braking and a good amount of power, so going from one to the other will jerk a bit. Using the clutch will help smooth things out, but expect to get a sore left hand after a while Laughing

A loose chain will make matters worse.

If it's anything like my NTV the shaft wont like the engine doing any less than 1500rpm (IIRC)

By the way, enjoy an invincible engine and sublime ease of maintenance!
