RXS100 vs H100

Which do you think is better?

I learnt to ride on the RXS, and found it an awesome bike to ride, fast and powerful (When I was 14) and it handled well too.

But last night I rode Pernig's, H100 and bugger me that thing can wheelie even easier than my GT.

never owned a rxs, but the old h100 was pretty good, the ax100 was better and the kh100 was better again,

After spending nearly 2years on by 650. I'd forgotten what fun little bikes are.

I went RXS way as I owned one and the front wheel was a gift to get up on that thing. Every time I stalled her at the lights the next start had the wheel in the air. First time scared me half to death and after that I got used to it.

Great fun bikes to ride.

Basically, i'm looking for one or the other until, I can get my full license back and ride the GT.

IMO both are ace, both would rip the 98 R1 to piece's.

So which would you buy?

I've ridden both and tbh yes they are light weight awesome little nippy commuters. They don't look much different to a CG125, but they are so much more fun to ride.

I think with any old bike search these days its best to buy a good one on condition, instead of seeking a particular model. That said they both go really well for 100cc commuter bikes and do wheelie quite nicely too!

The RXS is a bit faster and can top a real 70mph in favourable conditions. It's the full 12.2bhp so it always feels much more lively than a badly restricted 12bhp 125. The H100 is about 11bhp, and about 5mph slower, but it's still very nippy and the engine is designed a bit like a trials engine to give loads of low down power and torque. A mate at school had a H100 and he said it did 65mph, but on very hot days it would fade a bit and struggle over 60mph being air cooled. It did wheelie very well, and he could get it up off the power in 1st and 2nd and wheelie for the length of Morrisson's car park!

If i saw one though id definately have a KH100EX over either, just for the disc brake, rotary valve engine, and the sporty cast wheels. They also did some nice paint jobs on the KH for some years. The biggest downside to an RXS or H100 is that you have to have metallic blue or red and thats your lot!

All great little bike's and everyone with a big bike now, should go out and get a small cheap 2stroke to play with or keep as a winter bike, as while there are still a few around there is lots of fun to be had!

The H100A was dreadful. The H100S provides possibly the only example of any bike reverting to points ignition from CDI, despite the fact that the ignition system was one of the very few parts of the H100 not prone to failure at low mileage. The SII wasn't too bad at all. Decent handling, not too hideous to look at...but there is no excuse for that engine. I've seen many dead before 20K, and I could never work out WTF there was a balance shaft in such in tiny motor. Honda and strokers - it doesn't mix. Every road 2 stroke they ever made was shite.

RXS is good if you want A to B reliability and aren't bothered about things like looks, lights and the ability to stop. The electrics are inexcusably awful even by commuter standards. The original suspension is pretty crap too. The motor is the jewel in the crown. It's been in continuous production in some parts of the world since 1983 and there's a good reason for that.

The KH100 is ridiculously tiny, even for a 100. And slow. They stop well, simply because they only do about 57 flat out The 12v lighting is similar to that on the AR125, though - that is very useful.

If you could take an RD125LC chassis and stick an RXS motor in it in, with the KH100's brakes and electrics, you'd have something close to the ideal lightweight runabout bike.

Big problem with the H100 is that they are geared so low. Think the claimed top speed was 58mph, but peak power was at 6500rpm which is 50mph in top gear. So you are constantly thrashing the nuts off it when cruising, and you can't get sprockets to gear it up (front is as big as will fit, back is tiny already). That said they are very good on fuel despite being thrashed full time and will wheelie easily. Weak point of the engine is the main bearings (not really surprising as the engine is basically an MB5 / MT5 moped engine). H100 headlights are proof that Honda have a sick sense of humour (pathetic at night, then you come to a corner and brake, and the brake light coming on dims the headlight, while what little light remains now points at the floor just in front of the bike)

RXS has far more sensible gearing, doesn't seem to be quite so good on fuel nor as well finished.
