So my NSR 125 has started playing up. Started happening about a week ago when i tried keeping up with a 600. (Yes...ambitious at the least) Engine just started bogging down. And now the bike wont rev higher than 7k. From idle to 7k, it seems just like normal, the bike works spot on, but as soon as it get to 7k, the revs wont rise and it just bogs down if I twist the throttle any more. The end of my exhaust has turned a nice shiny black colour now and isn't the dull black it usually it. And the bike also seems more smoky. Even when its warmed up, i can still see slightly blue smoke coming out as im pottering along. Bike will only hit 55mph now
I've checked the servo motor is turning round and what not. That's about it.. So my thoughts are exhaust port or something silly with the CDI. I've got my hands dirty a fair bit with this bike already, so i'm gonna try and fix this myself too. How do I find out what's wrong with it/ replace parts/bring her back to full health?? Any help is much appreciated! Thanks guys |

For the servo just start it and keep it in nutral.
Depending on if the ignition was killed >/< 2k depends on if the servo has to move again so sometimes you will get the servo moving when you turn on the ignition.
Anywho, you should be able to get your hand onto the servo head under the tank and just start her up, let her warm for a minute or two then rev it up. The servo should close around 2k and open around 6.5 - 7.5 k to open again
Give it a shot and let us know.
Very odd problem here indeed
Best regards
(Ps, how did you do vs the 600 lol)
(PSS, the pro is alains heh)

Gave it a shot and think we might be onto something. So at 2k it does its usual business and turns round, but when it hits that 6/7k region, it tries to move but can only manage a quarter turn if that. At one point, it turned almost fully and the bike hit 9k, but wouldn't do it again for me. Think something could be sticking somewhere??
Haha, the 600. Destroyed me off the line, but he got stuck behind a car so i'd pretty much caught up , then this happened damn 600's!
Thanks for your help, would be trading it in for a scooter if i couldn't fix it :/ |

okay.
So it sounds like the servo isnt playing ball....
Give alains a shout as he will know more about what exactly could cause a problem like this. Sounds like it could be electrical but i wouldnt want to suggest you go blow £60+ on another box to try that has nothing to do with the problem
It certainly dosnt sounds like a major problem, could just take a little while to track it down...
Will have a look see in the manual to see if it suggests anything.
