After my little accident on the zx6r i need to make a decision about what happens next with the bike.

I've not received my engineers report as yet, but seeing as the frame has snapped im not too sure what to expect.

Im wondering what sort of money breaking a bike would bring and if it would be worth buying back. It would cost me far too much to put the bike back on the road so breaking it would be ideal for me.

Its a 10k FSH zx6r b1h. Forks and front end nose cone have been destroyed, along with the frame and a dent to the fuel tank. The engine and box are sound rear wheel and rear frame is fine. Im sure there will be other bits and bobs tbh inc braided lines and i have already taken my carbon bits off.

So, would this be worth buying back and breaking or just let the insurance company take it.

To be honest id buy it back, probably cost you Sub £200 to buy the bike back then sell all the bits that are in one piece.

Id have a look on ebay for identical parts to your bike that your planning on selling and see what there going for ul soon see if your likely to make your money back when they give you the salvage cost.

HTH Thumbs Up

With a snapped frame will they give you the choice?

Cat A will mean that no bits can be used on other bikes.

Snapped frame should be Cat B, unless it was involved in a fatal accident or was so mashed up (burnt?) that any part on it would be dangerous. Though, that doesn't mean cat A bikes don't get back in to circulation.
Always buy it back - even just sticking it on ebay as-is always nets you a decent profit.

Can a death really bump it up from a B to an A even if the damage is the same?

That's how I understand it, though I've heard different things from different people.
Dusty who used to post on here got a Cat A thundercat that only had a few scratches on the fairings.
We decided the only obvious answer was that they decided it'd be best it was properly scrapped, so relatives didn't see the 'killer bike' being ridden around a couple of weeks later.
