Car seat problem

Got a problem with the drivers seat on my 3 month (2800 mile) old BMW, this started to apear 1 month after getting the car and has been getting worst since.

l dont drive with anything in my pockets and just were normal jeans or suit trousers when driving so dont understand whats causing the wear, when l do finally find the time to take it into BMW (should be able to this saturday) do you think they will sort it under warranty as its not right for a new car seat to wear this quickly.

can only think of a stud from a pair of jeans (normally on the pocket edge
has got bent and catching the material as you move your leg up and down using the clutch pedal

I reckon it's a yarn fault, the seat cloth isn't finished correctly causing "pilling" of the kind you used to get with fleece cloths years back.

It certainly shouldn't wear so quickly though.

do you wear a jacket with velcro on it cause that looks like the damage caused by the rough side of a velcro strip being repeatedly pressed on to it

My brother had exactly that problem on his BMW 120d. BMW replaced it under warrenty, 3 months later its fine. He has also had to have it resprayed by BMW as the paint was flaking off!!

Is there a logo on the back of your jeans? Velcro on some clothing?
Keep anything in your left butt cheek pocket?

Keys, wallet, sand paper, rough diamonds etc?


Still though, it shouldn't do that after 3 months.
