PostPosted: 18:24 - 06 Oct 2010    Post subject: Cold Hands Reply with quote

Hello all,
Been sat in front of a computer all day so went out for a play tonight. Weathers getting a bit cold though and my hands are starting to get cold.
Can anyone suggest something I can wear under my normal gloves to keep my hands a bit warmer. I dont want to fit one of those large hand-warming contraptions that the London couriers all seem to use.
Thanks
Stu Very Happy

Buy thick insulated water and wind proof gloves.

Buy heated grips.

Buy heated glove liners.

Wear long woollen sleeves or at least decent quALITY LONG SLEEVE BASE LAYER. SORRY CAPS LOCK STUCK BUT I DON'T GIVE A FCUK.

Thin thermal inner gloves make a lot of difference if your main ones aren't too tight
Something like this

Glove liner sounds about right. Found this on ebay

Thin inner gloves or lots of fag breaks while resting your gloves on your exhaust manifold... Like I did this evening Wink

I also got flown over on three separate occasions by Tornado GR3, once only a few hundred feet up. I think they were using me as a mobile bombing target, fuckers Laughing

You need to toughen your hands, soak them in urine.

Hein gericke pathan gloves are considered to be the best gloves for keeping warm in the winter. It's worth noting that they don't offer as much protection as a lot of other gloves though and you'd need to get used to riding like a ninja turtle.

It's worth noting that it's better to be warm with less protection, than to be cold and losing concentration and sliding along the ground.

Don't go for the 4 finger ones because they are the worst of both worlds.

Actually... BMW offer a glove that is three times better then the HG Pathan. The THREE finger (Lobster-man) ones are the best of those.

BMW about 70 quid. Gortex and thermal protection.

A bit thick on the palm and under the fingers but your hands will NOT get cold.

I have BMW winter gloves and have used HGs Pathans too.

I brought some Oxford inner gloves for winter other year, fit under your normal glove ect.
I had problems with them right away, after 20 miles my thumb section went numb due to pressure.
I had large gloves, with med inners - which was recommended.
Not used them since - more of a hassle if anything.
How far do you travel?!
I normally now just take a few gloves from the petty station, the plastic cheap kind as your loading with fuel...
It helps me, and its free - also stops your hands getting wet Laughing
Just depends how far you travel Thumbs Up

I read this little tip on the riders digest a while ago, and it really does work, but not sure how healthy it is though!

1. Get yourself some plastic gloves (the big oversize ones you get at filling stations will do.

2. Get yourself some deepheat lotion.

3. Rub your hands in deepheat before you set off, put on the plastic gloves, then your actual gloves

4. Nice and warm, lasts ages.

But like i said, not sure how good it is for the hands!

Last year I rode all year in summer gloves and on a handful of occasions I used silk liners.

Just keep moving the fingers every so often when riding and make a few fists when at the lights, soon gets the blood flowing again.

Just got some HG winter gloves myself. Toasty warm, in fact too warm for this time of year.

Not the panthans as far as I am aware, shelltex not goretex though.

Do you know what those gloves look like..

Go into primark, and buy some mens £1 gloves (you get 2 pairs)

Would trap another layer of air between gloves, letting your hands warm it up Very Happy

I have thin thermal gloves that I wear under my winter gloves on the very cold days.

Earlier this year we hit -18 and I managed to ride in that, although my fingers were suffering by the time I got to work.

Decent muffs (tucanu urbano) make a massive difference and help a lot in the rain too as your hands don't get wet, which again makes a massive difference.
They do take some getting used to, but because I got these, I never bothered to fit my heated grips kit last winter and never used inner gloves, which I was a lot the year before.

Spada Enforcers, warmest gloves I've tried so far and keep your hands dry. Bit bulky when new but once bedded in there fine, £50 new which aint to bad, good protection as well. Thumbs Up

Won't reach fingers but will help keep your hands a bit warmer and they last ages.
Used them at work last year and when i got home they was still pretty warm.

I just tuck a few into my gloves. Still have to move fingers every now and then but they do help Smile
I think you can get them in different sizes too.
