Car radio problem , help PLEASE

I recently passed my car test , and got my car MOT`ed and a new battery put in yesterday. I was given some new 6X9 speakers which i fitted and went to turn on the radio and something flashed up on the display but i didnt get chance to see what it was before it turned off , the problem is that it wont turn back on , does anyone no why?

You've fried something.

Check the fuses first.

Is the stereo coded ? If it is and you've removed the battery, you will need to re-enter the code.

If its not, check all the connections to the back of the stereo, sometimes they can come out when you push it back into the hole.

If thats not it, youve bricked ya stereo somehow

There'll be a fuse in the head unit itself, most likely. Don't forget to check that one before you bin it.

If it was coded it'd be asking for a code, it wouldn't just be switched off.

Check the fuse first, as said.

Did you fiddle with the wires at the back of the stereo at all?

Code might be written on the stereo...

You can get the code from a dealer, but I dont think that is your problem here.

it has ended up that i will need to purchase a new player. I have 180watt speakers and the player is 100watt , is that ok?

Yes, that'll be fine. Speakers will be able to handle the power the player puts out, so won't blow.
