If you have read my last topic, you probably know that I just passed my restricted licence.
now also from my second last topic "sexiest 400" I have found that the honda range is probably the best to go for at first considering its got good handling, parts are easily obtained and a fairly forgiving bike.
i was just wondering since 90% of you all own bikes, could you please help me out with some prices?
i'm looking to get a cbr400rr preferably 1990 onwards.
i will be needing insurance, tpft, i'm 19 and got no claims. any idea of a price?
and of course some gear as well helmet and garments?
thanks in advance ____________________ My Two Babys- 2007 Stealth YZF-R1- 2006 K6 Suzuki GSXR750 Track Bike

Not sure if the cbr400 is best for parts. Its an import only bike. Apart from that its a top bike in all areas.
Hasn't stopped me...
Im 19 also, first bike, 0 yrs NCB. 550 (or so) tpft, loads of wicked extras 3rd party on anyone elses bike, 250 excess, European cover, free breakdown, etc.
I can p.m. you the company if you want. Remember to haggle with them, yeah? Say x company has got it cheaped, by XX ammount. I knocked off £100 by doing that. |

You probably aren't far off with most of it, obviously the gear will vary in price depending on manufacturer/type. The insurance might be a bit over a grand for you for TPFT. You can probably get a decent bike from around the £1500 mark.
On a seperate note, why has gtechosting decided to start rating posts as boring and not even bothering to post? |

Insurance prices vary a lot person to person, as a very rough guess I would say £1000 +- £200. When you need insurance drop me a PM. |

Wouldn't think your insurance will be much more than £900, but depends on what insurance companies are like with your postcode for the theft cover.
£500 will get you all the kit, but the more you can spend the better really. £100 will get you a helmet but I'd expect to probably pay about £150-200 for a good one. Gloves we're looking £50+ and about £75 to £100 for a good set. A set of leathers, or of textile clothing you really can spend pretty much as little or as much as you want, but you'll be hard pushed to get a good set for less than £300 I reckon. So if you can streach your budget more on clothing it is worthwhile doing, but you don't need to. |
