So, they are having a dig at the bloke in Brighton for riding a bicycle without lights, a car comes past, without lights and is just told to put them on. The program story changes to the Precious/Primrose woman and an old lady rides past the scene, without lights!

Alright that Brighton guy was asking them if they had anything better to do etc etc but the coppers had got the hump and were trying to stick him with everything they could, it was due to him giving them no respect.

What should worry you, and something I try to point out to the old man when he's watching this crap, is these programs are made BY the police, FOR the police.

These are their propaganda wheel, and rather than coming across intelligent, they try to come across omnipotent.

I can't watch these types of programs for all the reason Bonny outlined. Its just propaganda for the police, every thing they say, they way the narrator describes people, its all set up to instill fear and a sense of futility in any one watching.

The police on these shows have to be even more inhuman than normal, if their superiors see them doing anything outwith the training (which is designed to dehumanise them) they'll be for the high jump.

They rarely if ever show a policeman making a mistake and apologising for it. I'm not sure why they even put it on the telly, the only people interested in it are other policemen or people with superiority complexes.

Now, if they introduced a voting element so the public could phone or text in to get rid of the biggest git on the show, that might pique my interest. (Although I suspect it would drastically foreshorten the show, which I suppose is also fine.)

A clear point is made by the cops in many of these programs that there are usually 2 outcomes to the situation. 1) They let you on your way with a warning or 2) They throw everything they can make stick at you.

The difference between the people who get 1 or 2 is the amount of grovelling, ego massaging and arse kissing they do.

That is a corrupt a system. Just as many foreign ones where the outcome depends on whether you can afford to buy yourself out of trouble.
