When that other guy was talking to that Primrose or Precious or whatever she was called, an old woman cycled past with no lights! Made me laugh.
That cyclist got done for £915 quid in the end though!!!!!

Bloke .. perspective .. bigger picture .. ffs .... earlier i saw some USA gimps paying a measly 10,000 dollars for bombing / killing 3 little girls/sisters and their mother in Afghan ....
Then we have you wearing your high vis vest and being smug at 900 quid for someone going home drunk on a bike instead of a car that weighs a ton ...
FFS ... whilst he would of been better off complying ... if we all complied as such to the filths manipulation of democracy, it would just further their over and unjustified egos into more nanny shite ...
The biker with the flip reg .. prison ... in other words, no one else try to avoid paying speeding fines on empty roads ....
And Bloke suggests man of and of the streets, not some hi vis stuck up twat applauding such injustice shown on TV let alone whats not shown ...
If you get knocked of your bike in the dark with no lights, then it's mainly your fault ... not paying 900 quid because you have not been hit, or pandered to filths ego ...
My only thought on it, was that there was no reflector .. and that he should of just stuck to the pavement ... ____________________ Fuk um !! |

inept...perspective. Being summoned to court because you're a yet another mouthy twat who believes that minor crimes should go unpunished is not an injustice.
As the police explained, he would have been dealt with by a word to the wise, he left the officers no avenue to negotiate, refused a fpn and then lost in court as he had done exactly what the officers had charged him for.
I wear hi-viz because I want to be seen. Wtf that has to do with the price of fish i've no idea.
Here's a nice scenario, it's getting closer to christmas so quite relevant.
You're riding home from a place on your motorbike, doing 50+ in a 30 because it's not a "real" 30 in your opinion.
When drunk mouthy twat ignores a red light and rides out straight in front of you, he had no lights, no reflectors and is dressed in black, you don't see him until you are right on top of him, luckily you are superman so can consciously decide to lay the bike down to try and avoid him. Unfortunately the bike plows sideways along the road and takes him out.
You come off with nasty road rash and a broken arm, leg and fractured hip because you were just popping down the road and don't like to wear safety equipment, after all they're only toy standards right?
Ambulance arrives to find him crushed by 300kgs of bike hitting him at 30+mph, pronounces him DoA.
Police at the scene note that the industrial unit (like I said it's not a real 30) cctv cameras are overlooking the incident and capture you traveling faster than the speed limit and maybe pulling a little wheelie, charge you with death by dangerous driving.
"but officer he jumped a red light"
"sorry, we have evidence showing you were in excess of the speed limit"
"but officer I couldnt see him he was all in black and had no lights on"
"makes no difference son your speed was the major contributing factor in his death and we can prove you were riding dangerously at the time of the accident."
Turns out in court that the police had previously seen the rider but had failed to stop him at the time due to not feeling the offences were serious enough to warrant it.
You are escorted out of the court house to the jeers of his local cycling club, local press and see his wife and two children crying as they walk off.
Now you're someone celebrating christmas, with a family who has been told their father is a killer, who's children go to school with the kids of the father you were found to have killed, who's dealing with the fact he killed someone in an avoidable accident, banned from driving and currently serving a long prison sentence behind bars.
If only the cyclist hasn't jumped the red light...
If only the cyclist had lights on so you could have seen him earlier...
If only the cyclist wasn't drunk so he could have taken avoiding action quicker...
Completely ignoring your riding, the accident would have been avoidable just from the cyclist doing a few things to help ensure his safety and you would have had your usual nice speedy ride home.
So yes I do think the coppers had him bang to rights and that being a cheeky bastard shouldn't get you off.
*the above scenario takes into account all the various attitudes i've witnessed on these forums in the last 2 months. Food for thought. ____________________ 2008 VFR800 VTEC |

Oh blah blah. And what if it had been a teenager all dressed in black, running to cross the road? Still be his fault that you hit him at 50 instead of 30? Eh? ____________________ "There's the horizon! Ride hard, ride fast and cut down all who stand in your way!" |

Thanks Hetz, I was not looking forward to having to make a rebuttal to his ridiculous claim. I was going to go for a more far-fetched extension of his idea to make him look ridiculous but I am happy with what you went with . I was going to protect speeding rather than cycling :p |

I wear hi-viz on the motorbike when the weather's shitty, and my pushbike goretex jacket is dayglo orange so same there. I don't do it because I'm holier than thou, I do it because I drive as well, I know how visible bikes of any sort are in poor conditions, and I imagine that coming together with a big metal box will hurt (me, mostly). So that's my disclaimer out of the way.
Drunk bloke wasn't that drunk, as he said. Just drunk enough to ride like a prat past a police car. Although it's probably no different to when he's sober.
He could have licked a bit of butt and probably got nothing (and he was in the wrong - just for lights if nothing else); he could have accepted he was wrong eventually and had the FPN; but he had to go to court and argue.... and he was wrong.
Didn't look like he couldn't afford lights either - looked like a nice bike, and I reckon that fine was means tested.
I'm sure if the plod wanted to be really arsey, they could have pulled him in, or taken his bike off him. I thought they gave him as much chance as they could, in the face of his behaviour.
The rules here are quite simple and it's in cyclists' interests to follow them - it's not the car/bus/lorry that suffers. Also, it'd save all the massive time and effort etc for all the emergency services who have to come and scrape up the bits, the people who are held up as the road's closed for hours, the inquest etc etc etc
The only thing in my mind is that it's a bit rough that they picked on him when there's thousands of others the same - and that's just on bikes - but that's how it has to be unless we have police on every road (or people start giving a shit about the law).
BTW - the car driver with no lights probably said "sorry officer, I just realised, oh my god" and got sent on their way. That's not arse licking: it's realising you've made a mistake, admitting it, apologising and hopefully try not to do it again. It's a grown-up thing. If the police were arseholes, they could have ignored that and booked them as well - but didn't. Which is one grown-up recognising another. The cyclist was a 40 year old child. ____________________ Honda Varadero 125cc => Suzuki Bandit 650 33bhp => 77bhp =>
