Yes.
She should go to the dentist and get it sorted asap.
If it is infected, she needs antibiotics.
And then she will need the root canal fixed.

Of course it could just be that she wants to hit you, cos you're a knobber Laughing

But the tooth pain will be making her temper shorter, so she is considering that you are a knobber much quicker than usual.

Not sure what the injection bit is.

But having an abscess is by far the most painful thing I have ever been through. Bad enough to stick a knife through my gum, under the tooth, to try and relieve some of the pressure. Much worse than breaking a bone. And the worst bit is, I didn't sleep for about a week so through tiredness it was seeming worse and worse. In the end my face swelled up so big that I couldn't get my lid on to get to work.

It was then that I decided, maybe I should go see a dentist Confused

Route canal on the other hand, didn't hurt one bit, despite what everybody said. Laughing

The other thing with an abscess is that they go down and sort of lie dormant for a few months which makes them all to easy to ignore.

Because of this, I still have two at the moment (the one that was supposedly repaired came back). I keep thinking I should go to the dentist, and keep putting it off because I'm not in any pain.

I assumed he meant infection.

Although injection did cross my mind briefly.
(I had a fleeting horrible vision of an injection directly into a root before the nerve is out, brrrrrrrr, ugh ... )

I always find that once you've gone thru the pain of one dental injection, you can have two or three cos its all numb after that anyway ... and its WAY MUCH BETTER than the pain of drilling/gouging etc.

I hate the feeling of the injection going in, it feels like a little ball under the gum, like they injected a whole pea under there or something.

Weirdness!

Laughing You strange man Laughing

It doesn't feel like that to me, it just feels like a loooooooonnnnnnnng needle (the occasional time I've glanced over at instruments tray the sight of the needle has given me nightmares! I can't look at the needle before I let them near my mouth with it, else I'd never have it done!)

I use mental techniques to help place my thoughts in another dimension until the injection is finished.

The funniest thing is trying to drink water with a numb mouth.

And also getting on a bus (helmet didn't fit) with a numb face and wondering if my mouth is flapping down, I could have been dribbling down my front and not had a clue my mouth was that numb Laughing

Well done on quitting though Thumbs Up

I have made much money on betting how long people at work will last before quitting their attempts at quitting. Most people last less than a month.

Ive been having root canal treatment over the past 2/3weeks.

Initially it was just an abcess but man that hurt, it started as a twinge at like 6pm, by 7pm I was on 2 co-codamol, by 830pm I had the last 2 co-codamol that were in my medicine draw which knocked me out, I was woken by the pain at 11pm, one side of my face swelled like I had stuffed a tennis ball in my gob and by 1115 my entire kitchen floor was covered with the contents of all my kitchen draws after emptying them to try and find more drugs! Finally found some in my work rucksack... took another 3 and was out clean for the entire night, ended up buyin paramol and saw the dentist the next day had a hole drilled to let the puss drain and could visibly see over the space of an hour the swelling go right the way down..

Now in comparison to the pain of the abcess itself all the work the dentist did was nothing, the only slight twinge and it wasnt even pain was the injection into the top of my mouth to numb my face when I got back to work my mates said I looked like a stroke victim Laughing . The root canal work itself wasnt painful at all just strange feeling to have someone poking round your tooth with a 1 inch file.. But it felt awesome not to have that nagging pain anymore.

What I like about root canals is that they put little rods of metal in there and then melt them with, like, a sort of soldering iron.

(or at least, thats what it FEELS like they are doing)

Who's our resident dentist, anyway?
I know we have one. Is it Suitor Stu?

Yep. I just got offered a job as a trainee dental nurse in Aberdeen and he works in Inverness. Hopefully when I qualify I can go be his sexy assistant Laughing

Yeah same here... my dentist could only get 1 of the 3 nerves out the first time round... not like she didn't try! Think I was sat in the chair for an hour while she tried, something to do with 2 canals starting out as one and splitting out into a y joint and that one side was bigger than the other so the file kept going down the wrong one! Anyway on the 2nd visit she just got the drill out lol.
