Yamaha WR125X

Hey, i'm planning on buying a Yamaha WR125X when i'm 17 in 50 days and i'm wondering if there are any parts which you can buy to improve the performance of the bike or to make the bike more enjoyable as it's already great

Since you're not even old enough to ride it yet, I'd put money into riding it and getting some experience.

From the looks of that downpipe it looks like a 4 stroke, so there's unlikely to be much extra power to be had.

A slightly free-r flowing exhaust coupled with a performance air filter and a carb re-jet might free up a tiny bit of power. But tbh I wouldn't bother. Just ride it, and love it.

I'd probably end up buying a new exhaust just to make it a bit noisier.

At the moment, i've got a generic trigger but i've been saving for this bike for awhile now.

what exhaust would you recommend getting?

I seem to recall that they're right on the legal limit anyway, at nigh on 15bhp, so I'd leave it stock (which will help retain its resale value anyway) and enjoy it, safe in the knowledge that if you get pulled or have a smash you're legal and the police and insurance company won't be taking an interested look around it.

Got a evo tech tail tidy, makes it look much better.
Full Bigone exhaust system, didnt really add nothing buy a few mph, but does sound alot better then the stock exhaust.
Also got a malossi 182cc kit coming with a uprated cam & booked in for a PC5 fittment and dyno map.

Do consider if this is the right bike for you (I'm presuming it's the tart factor), as you want to change it before you've bought it!

If it were me, I'd put that money into my test and then get an adult size supermoto! ... it'll probably be cheaper to do that than trying to make a 125 faster .... and the women will want to suck you off more if your mates have a 125s and you have a 250+!

Do your test and get a bigger bike for more open mouthed female activity .

17; same as to be able to ride a 125 on a CBT.

Please dont waste your money on an over priced New bike.
I cringe when I see lads riding around on them Yamaha R125's. I was talking to a chap at Ebbsfleet last month, The bike, His insurance, helmet, jacket, gloves and boots etc, cost him in excess of £6000.

That's more than I spent 4 years ago, on my full bike license, CBR400, 1 piece leather race suite, Helmet, Boots, gloves and my first year of petrol too.

hmmm, okay so what bike would any of you would recommend then? i've got £4000-£5000 to spend on a bike, gear and insurance. So could I buy a a bigger bike than a 125 and then just restrict it to a 125 until i'm old enough....?

Any ideas would be great then and i'm planning on getting a bigger bike then

Did you read up in the new bikers section? If not, go and do so now.
You can not 'restrict' a bike (reasonably) to 125cc.
However, when you pass your restricted test you can restrict a bigger cc bike to 33hp. You can't legally have a bike over 33hp for two years after you pass your restricted test. As I say, read the new bikers section .

If you want a supermoto style bike, a second hand DRZ-SM is probably worth considering. Think the prices aren't too silly these days.

You can not ride a bike bigger than a 125 on L plates.

Get a cheapish bike and put the rest of the money towards your test
