Has anyone ever traded in a bike worth more than the bike you are interested in?

I am selling my 08 R1 and interested in a 03 CCM 644 at a dealer, do you know if dealers take this sort of deal?

I'd suspect you'd be far better off selling your R1 privately beforehand. Dealers like to rip you off at the best of times.

your always better selling privately, it doesnt matter if its older or newer, worth more or less they should take it no problems and give you cash back, there simply buying in the biek to sell on.

if you ever get offered more then market value for your bike against another its because they are ripping you off for the one your buying. simple as that.

Thanks, I know it will be more worth while selling it on myself, it is just bothering I suppose.

But that is good to know, thanks.

Yeah I know, just wanted to make sure you can actually do it this way before asking, I have never tried, in fact I have only ever traded in once and that left a sour taste in my mouth then. Laughing

your wlecome Thumbs Up

its not to say you wont get very near market value, if he has a customer who is after a bike exactly the same as yours or he knows he can move it on straight away then they will pay more. ring a few dealers see what they would noffer you for it then get your px price and haggle upwards. always tell them what you want for it, think of the number add 3-400 £ and haggle from that number down and meet them at some point. px'ing is so much easier than selling privately especially with a newer bike like yours, people would always rather buy from a dealer withb nearly new bikes.
