 |
|
As per my workshop discussion, I am now in the market for a new helmet, not too fussed about budget withing reason, I would like something really safe obviously. What do you guys recommend?
I had a Chris Walker rep Arai Quantum F. Unfortunately it has had the bottom trim fall off on the motorway somewhere and it looks like Arai can not repair it, which gob smacks me!
Who makes the ones with the goggle style visor? They look quite smart.....
Any advice, pics, etc very welcome.....
Thanks ____________________ Mr Pants! (Alex or Al)

the goggle visor may be a Roof
very comfy and very quiet although the little placcy bits break very easily - and the shell is HUUUUUUUGE
I've gone back to Shoei - the Z1 is really comfy and uses the CX1 quick release visor system which is totally without parallel imho ____________________ 187.3bhp = 201mph |

I looked at the Roof ones. A couple of people mentioned to me that a few people had broken their noses when they crashed in one because it sits too close to your face apparently. Also the shell is the same size no matter what lid size you go for, so if you have a small head the lid will look massive. I decided not to bother in the end. Look cool though. Very comfy too! ____________________ Honda NSR125R -> Suzuki GSXR400R GK76a -> Kawasaki ZX636 B1H -> Honda CBR400RR NC29 -> Nothing |

£329.99 bargain!
I keep looking at the Arai RX7 and drooling....
My head is most definitely an Arai head, I just fancy trying something different and that AGV looks really smart in grey....
Mind you, so does the RX7:

Mr Pants, I got that exact same arai RX-7 helmet, i've had it a fair while now as well, and I can do nothing but praise it, even though I did get the helmet dirt cheap compared to the price your looking at! I got mine from the Riossi closing down sale and got it for £334.99! Not to rub it in or anything though mate.....
Cheers

If you have an Arai shaped head, and have already got used to having an Airai just bite the bullet and buy another one. It is one of those 'once you've tried it you'll realise why' things, get something else and you will be forever comparing it. ____________________ “Rule one: Always stick around for one more drink. Arai RX-7
Was going to get one, but saved about 100 and got Astro-j. A perfect fit. Doesnt have fully removable inners. Only has removable cheek pads. All good though. mine was £250, from J&S when i sale was on.
Ultra comforable, for me, quiet, light. I lurve it. Arai rule. |

I have one of these Arai RX7 thingies. It's a top lid and I got it from these people https://www.moto-plus-accessories.com/mpa/co_uk/index.htm
Couldn't beat them on price. It did take a couple of weeks to get it because mine is a limited edition Roberts GP and yes I'm a tart and have a small head. My local Arai dealer tells me they couldn't even buy it in for the price I got it and they recon it's 1 of a 250 limited edition run.
Arai head. |

removable lining, and vents designed to a particularly riders tastes
save your money, get the Astro J/R
personally i hate removable anything in motorcycle protective clothing, because that to me means "will move about and piss you off" and in my experience, my hate has been well based
my leathers armour is all removeable, and it feels different everytime to put it on thanks to this, the knee armour has come out altogether as its physically painful to ride with it in, and once you get it comfortable as soon as you straighten your leg again it will move and hurt again
i cant see a need for removable helmet lining, ive never owned a helmet long enough to need to wash it, and they are easy enough to wash leaving the lining in place ____________________ So in other words, he stopped you for being flagrantly in posession of a motorcycle in direct contravention of the Hippies, Darkies and People Whose Face I Don't Like The Look of (Police Powers) Act. 1976 |

Does anyone else know where a good place is to get a silver mirrorized visor for the rx-7? So far the site that DF posted earlier is the cheapest at £60! and www.thevisorshop.com want £65 for one of theirs, apart from these ebay's been my best bet!
Cheers,

I'm about to start looking for a new helmet as well. Up until now I've had an AGV helmet, but I don't really have an AGV-shaped head. On any trip longer than 20mins I start to feel it pressing on my forehead and I invariably end up with a red mark!
Time for a new one I think... I however am on a budget, so something that fits + something that's quite cheap = perhaps tricky to find ____________________ "The problem with the French is they have no word for 'entrepreneur' " George W Bush
