insurance next year

so lately ive been pying attention to all this polatics cr@p and noticed insurance popped up and caught my hearing, and what i heard shocked me, out dumbass goverment is rasing insurance by a shocking 60% increase this effects both motocyclists and car drivers but what shocks me the most are other things the goverment are doing as well cutting the costs of the army by a whopping 25% (they've had enough cuts to there budget why cut it more people in the army die already from lack of goverment funding this will make it worse|) but what strikes me the most is why is it being raised that much, all us new biker's around the age of 16-18 will fnd it harder to insure our bikes (and cars).
so anyone else heard this and got anything else to add?

I've just had my renewal through for the strumpet and it's £64.90 tpf&t for the year. Not sure how that fits in with your 60% increase in premiums, but I felt like sharing that fact.

No Insurance premium tax for car, home and travel policies will rise to 6%.
That is from 5%.....

So hardly what you would call a massive increase, when compared to the 2.5% on VAT.....

Bike insurance seems to be fine, it is just car insurance and people who keep putting in personal injury claims.

Despite the slightly ranty nature of the OP's post, they're right in my recent experience - my renewal was last month.

I was paying around £140 TPFT for my two bikes, with business use and TPO on any other bike. Renewal, after accruing another years NCB came in at £333; after speaking to the insurance company the best they could do was £278 so I started shopping around...

The very best I could get was £180ish. So, for the first time in 14 years I dropped my cover down to TPO, and was still getting quotes of around £130 for that, and that didn't include TPO on any other bike.

One useful tip though, and I don't know if they'll be doing it this month was this: about three days before renewal time I had an email from Ebike, one of the companies I'd got quotes with, with a £40 off discount voucher if I took out a policy with them - bringing my quote down to £80 for my bikes for the year. So it may be worth getting a quote with ebike, and then sitting on it till just before you've said you want insurance to commence in case they send you the same voucher.

Don't mind having TPO cover to be honest - when I took into consideration that both my bikes are worth around a grand apiece, and the excess on most policies was about £250, I doubt I would have made a claim if one went walkies anyway. To get £750 back and lose four years NCB didn't seem worth it.

I'll have a look at protected NCB all things being well next year, and then think about upgrading my cover.
