Start my new job 4th November! Very Happy

It's working in the Co-Op Distribution depot for Nottingham on nights, £21k a year collecting orders and putting them onto lorries. Easy work and decent money.. Should be good!

Pretty excited about it, as I've taken a hit on a lot of things recently, and felt like I should tell people as BCF has kept me pretty sane with the Karma thread and general 'lulz' of it all.

Thanks BCF! Very HappyThumbs Up Karma

Thanks all, I've informed the folks and such, they all seem pretty happy for me. Have organised an meal and much drunkenness with a few friends for next weekend as I had planned to see Beardyman at a club in city centre.

Should be good to get those pennies rolling in again! Very Happy

AFAIK it's 10pm-6am, with the occasional overtime which will be anything up to 10am in the morning, my induction is on 4th November and that's when I find out all the little details.

That looks like decent money to me. I need to see if I can find something that pays that much.

Money on nights has always been good for that exact reason. Nights are shit and I haven't even done it before.

Has been proven to reduce life expectancy, makes you have a largely shite social life, have to sleep during the day (I know I personally would really struggle with that).

Oh and another tip, Don't stack potatoes on eggs. It happens more often than you'd think.

If you haven't done it, how can you know this?

I've worked nights for over 10 years now. I have a great social and family life. Sleeping during the day is easy with a black out blind and ear plugs (if needed, depending on where you live and how noisy your house can be).

It takes a few months to get into the pattern, but once in, its no different to days. I personally hated double days. One week of earlies and one week of lates is a complete mess on your body.

To the OP, good luck and don't work too hard... Wink

luckily my folks both work nights, my bro works during the day but will be moving out after christmas so It's gonna be quiet during the day apart from when my dog barks due to someone coming into the garden or knocking on the door.

I've worked nights before, and I've got mates that will gladly organise nights out for when I have days off so my social life wont be too affected. Will just have to plan things a bit in advance..

The place actually has a pretty good gym on site too, I plan to be using it 4-5 times a week... Pension and a few other sports/social benifits too

Looking forward to starting... Very Happy

I don't think I could work nights, means I wouldn't be able to go clubbing.

Congrats on the job though!

Good luck with it, be interesting to hear how you get on.

I'm often sat the other side of the loading bay wondering what takes them so fucking long Laughing
