 |
|
Hi, i just started my firstyear at university studying automotive engineering, basically we've started using solidworks which is a cad program. Ive been looking for working drawings for a rs125 (because i have one ) but any bike will do, as id like to get practice but it wud just be better if i rendered a bike,as the plan is to draw the bike in 3d on the program from working drawings. good fun and that and it will give me alot of practice which hopefully will come in useful later on. |

Have you only recently started using solidworks? The amount of surface modelling and very complex shapes and the steep learning curve means I would advise you to start a bit less ambitious, go through tutorials and some easier subjects (engines are fairly easy) before you try to recreate frames and fairings
I will do a bit of solidworks whoring though It's really addictive when you get started

And to give some indication of time spent, the shock (30 components) took maybe two hours, the frame took easily double that, the only bit thats finished is the main spars, but it's pretty much 100% accurate to an FZR400 frame spar. The other parts of the frame model (steering head, subframe support, engine mounts etc) took barely 10 minutes - to give a rough indication of how it will look. Theres a huge difference in modelling smooth surface heavy objects. |

Actually i want to have a crack at this.
Can you reccomend any decent tutorials?
And would solidworks 2006 be ok or is the 2010 version significantly better?
Cheers

2010 is a lot prettier and slightly more intuative, but I've never had a problem using older versions. Also worth bearing in mind that you can generally open older version saved files on a newer version, but rarely the other way round (you can save files as STEP or IGS to get round this but you lose everything bar the basic shape (feature history etc))
I just used the contained tutorials and went from there, but I found it a big learning curve, theres also youtube and forums, but I've never bothered.
If you have trouble finding a free version theres also
https://www.caligari.com/
which is completely free apparently with downloadable tutorials and manuels
(if you find a free download of SW2010 I wouldn't mind if you shared it ) |

This is because the author does not simply an advocate of heavy parasites because some idiot thinks he has a bright engineer.Weight distribution, more room for rear suspension components, d components of fuel injection and air box, and other benefits could result from the relatively unique layout engine. ____________________ motorcycles for sale |
