Cr 500 33bhp kit?

Does anybody know of a CR500 restrictor kit available on the market? I have been searching for the past 3 days straight after an idea for the summer and cant find one anywhere.

You won't find one for a cr500. You could buy some dyno time and make a throttle stop or intake restrictor. I wouldn't recommend it either way.

Thanks for the help, if im perfectly honest it wouldent stay on there, i just wanted the "proof" that work has been done so to speak, is that all insurers require, a dyno sheet? i though you had to have a comprehensive list of what work was done and where t was carried out WITH a dyno sheet.

Hi

A CR500 has a slide carb so to restrict it you would just limit the throttle travel (ie, probably a spacer above the carb slide). No chance anyone is going to already make one (plenty of road bikes they don't let alone off road bikes).

What an insurer requires is totally up to the insurer. They could require a letter from god signed by his parents if they wanted.

If you're planning to use it a lot on the road as general transport, do do your research first - general impression I've had is that they are a pain in the arse for anything but silly-fast riding (or or off road).

You'll be wanting to get insurance quotes before you look at 33bhp. Contrary to logical thinking, 33bhp has zero effect on the price of insurance.

Thanks for the help guys, Especially keith, I havent posted on here in ages but you always give sound advice.
My friends dad (farmer) owns a cr500 which I have rode a handful of times so I know what there like, and I did do some research about SM'd ones, the only downside I can see is hard starting and constant rebuilds if I rack up some hours/miles.
As for insurance, belive it or not, a cr500 with all mods declared (exhaust, restrictor kit, SM wheels, brakes, suspension, everything..) 18 years old with declaration of my 3 points...passing my test as of the day I got this quote...Bottom quote being the standard with no mods declared, top quote being every mod i would like or do to the bike eventually.....

Considered a CR500 SM briefly. IMHO, it would be a total PITA. Do the sensible thing and get an XR Alternatively, the CRM is a great little bike, still goes like shit off a shovel and much more practical for road use.

Or something like a Husaberg 650 - similar peak power to a CR500 I expect and probably not too far off the weight, but newer suspension and either comes as a supermoto or easily converted too it.

More to buy in the first place, but probably less overall.
