As seen in the New Bikers section, I recently passed my mod 2 (Thursday)
But my mother and stepfather saw a nice Suzuki GN250 for sale for 400 quid with long MOT and tax. I went and took it for a test ride... And my mum LOVES the bike, She wants me to get it. So much so that she's paid for my insurance on it, and offered to pay for the bike... All I have to pay her back is 150 quid! Very Happy Very Happy
Thing is, The bike to me just seems like a shot at a 250 custom styled Honda CG... Very flat on power and only gets 20-22bhp. But I guess it's comfier and will keep me out of trouble. Oh well ^.^
Looks Like I'm back on the streets =D

they are the learner staple bike here in nz, pretty well respected, the newer ones are chinese assembled, but are still reasonably good, the finish is a bit shit but the engine is still the good old dr250 bullet proof lump,
with a seat change they can be made to look quite cool

Sounds like a good starter bike, more 'oomph' than a 125 but not enough to go too crazy with, and you avoid the 33bhp restriction Thumbs Up Enjoy.

the engine just feels like an overbored CG/YBR... Almost like the dyno curve is completely flat.

Right,I have the bike, I have pics... but for fuck sake I have no way of getting them off my phone haha!
It's not a bad bike tbf... I can take off in second easy, third with a struggle.
I can pull 25mph up hill in 5th at 2500rpm and it gains speed.
top speed of 80mph on the motorway on a slight downhill at 8,000rpm.
with a pillion on the motorway its about 70mph on a flat.
She's pretty torquey for a 250 single.

Surely you can at least delete them to hide the embarrassment of owning a cruiser if someone else looks through your phone?
Wink

However, I do think it's a more sensible option for general transport than a c90 or various other things you were considering.

I dont get how owning a cruiser is embarassing.

A choice of bike normally dictates either your financial status or your personality.
I myself wouldnt mind a marauder 800... but at the same time, I'd like a gpz900, but I'dalso like a GL1200 Aspencade... or a CBR400RR... I like lots of bikes and I find none embarassing
