fuel gauge

Can anyone help I took the tank of my bike to repair it before that the bike was starting and running now that I have put the tank back on and connected it and the gauge will not show any fuel that is in the tank and the bike wont start - it is turning but not starting
I disconnected the fuel hose and turned the tap to on and there is fuel trickling through the fuel hose

Sounds to me as though bits from the bottom of the tanks have travelled through the reserve.

Things to check:
Fuel filter:
Needle valve in carburettor, jets and float chamber.

I think bits have managed to work there way through the fuel system. Very common when repairing the tank.
