I have not been able to ride the bike for about 3 weeks due to what I think is a trapped nerve in my shoulder.

Just went to the garage and tried the electric start, it turns the engine slowly, might actually die before the engine fires.

I have a car battery charger, is there any reason why I should not use it to charge the bike battery?

It's an XT600E 4PT by the way.

You could just believe things posted on an internet forum or you could do a little research yourself.

Frankly IMO there's good reason NOT to use a car charger on a bike battery.

Bike batteries, by their nature, are small. This makes the plates small and close together. Put too large a load through them and they'll warp.

Car chargers put out a large current. This will damage bike batteries. Ok, I'll admit it may appear work, it will just drastically shorten the life of your battery.

Best use a dedicated bike charger or a charger with a motorcycle setting. In the long term they'll be cheaper than new batteries. The Accumate I bought at the same time as my first bike is the best bit of workshop/maintnenance kit I've bought.

HTH Thumbs Up
