I would rather do a job I enjoy and earn 20k for example than a job I hate and earn 50k. I'm sure many others are the same.
I want to join the Army, I know there is a chance of getting killed, but, there is a chance of getting killed walking to work at Tescos. But if I don't die, it could be the best thing I ever do, with skills that will stay for life.
I tend to give money to small charities, there is a restbite home for children with disabilities near me, started off small, but now can afford to advertise on a bus, whole bus is covered with it, something like 98% of the money raised goes to admin costs.
If I'm giving money to someone, I want as much as possible to go to kids for example, rather than paying for someone to have a better chair in the office.
Voted by the way! How often do votes count? |

I simply feel for the widdows and their families who have been stripped of their loved ones and have not been adequately compensated for it. Lets face it, its not their fault the person they choose to love is in the armed forces (although some perhaps see it as a turn on, uniform and all that). I have my own beliefs on war and see it as a last resort and certainly dont condone charging in and fighting other peoples battles but its the way it is unfortunatly. I'm not in a huff and TBH wasn't asking much so take it or leave it. Sorry if my last post was a bit offensive but certain members have offended me with their views. Sun charity or not its still a charity and its a worthy one (in my opinion of course).
Its only a fraudulent competition if votes are falsely generated, those who voted did so of their own free will and all i have done is raise awareness of the cause |

You'll certainly have to do more than to offend me at least .
A lot of what my tax money pays for and what people representing our country does offend me.
I might have replied differently if you had been trying to support a different charity, one for instance that isn't in the popular eye so much; such as a military one which has seriously suffered since Help for Heroes got popular and also supports a wider range of ex-services people (ie more involved in previous conflicts, etc).
I do also get annoyed by the "it's for charridy, innit" attitude if anyone says anything negative about such. |

I always donate to the Poppy appeal and i see where you are coming from. The problem for us is we want maximum coverage and money to make the project worthwhile afterall the poptop alone is £1500 to buy which has been donated, the forum itself stumped up the cash to buy the base van you see on the Coolwall plus all the time and effort put into it from the forum members and the other significant parts donations generously recieved. It wouldn't be worth doing unless we made some serious money for the cause. As you say, its in the limelight which means most people dont mind spending out where as the lesser known charities might make them reluctant. Certainly the parts suppliers who have given big £££ parts wouldn't be so interested if they didn't get the advertising coverage by having their names mentioned in the credits. The last show alone made £3500 in ticket sales £2 a pop and we want to keep going to see how far we can take it. I do feel for the other charities and hopefully my garbled response makes sense.
You probably gathered that the van isn't even close to getting the work moving as yet but its going to be a serious bit of kit when its done |
