Came home froma mates yesterday and as i was backing the van on the drive i saw a hamster cage on the pavement, parked and went to have a look.

There was a little hamster in there curled up and freezing his little bollocks off so I bought him in, cleaned the cage out and put him by a radiator, the next day he was happy as larry, well horace cos thats his new name.

Its as tame as you like and the dog dont mind him either. Cant believe someone just left it there to die, or am i getting soft?

I'm guessing that "Horace" is likely to be the unfortunate victim of some sort of domestic dispute?!

Or some ignoroid who bought it for their child. Child gets bored of it, wife complains about the smell. It's in the way, so its out. Such are people.

The title is seriously misleading...it's not as if you actually found it, it was in a cage...it's not as if it had any opportunity to walk away Laughing

What actually happened is some horrible irk abandoned their hamster in his cage on your doorstep, and you took him in.

Well good on you for being a softie and taking the hamster in. As for being the great discoverer, forget it!!! Thumbs Up

The typical wood shavings you get in pets shops are quite bad for them as well, I cant remember the type but one was really bad for them.

I used this stuff for a long time: https://www.megazorb.co.uk/shop/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=1_10&products_id=3

Get massive bags of them for quite cheap, last for ages and ages because A) its really absorbent/clean stuff so can go on for ages with out change B) you get a shit load in one bag Laughing (something like 85litres worth)

If that's your logic, I went outside today and found a Masarati. It's a really nice car, in a charcoal grey colour. Rolling Eyes I also found a lot of other things, right there, right outside...though admittedly not on my doorstep...like your hamster!!! Wink

well i didn't buy it, wasn't given it, not looking after it for someone. I happened upon a pet cage sitting on the pavement, upon further investigation inside the cage i found a hamster.

You didn't find a maserati, you would expect the street to be a place where one would leave a maserti, so you saw a maserati.

I didn't walk on, i took it with me, i found it.

Same as if I picked a tenner up and took it in, when asked by her indoors i'd say I found it.

I having trouble seeing where you're coming from.

No excuse for dumping a defenceless animal outside in the freezing cold.
Call me sensitive, but that shit gets to me. All they needed to do was put it in the paper free to a good home and it would have gone.

Harsh Sad
