According to Classical Motorcyle Mechanics this month all bikes intended for scrap must be taken to an Authorised Treatment Facility, we can no longer do it ourselves.
Until the ATF informs them the bike must be taxed or SORNed. If you retain the frame for any purpose it must be SORNed for as long as you retain it.

Thats a small pain in the arse as im using some frames for racing next year, SORN'ing 3 different frames at different times along with tax'ing the bike and car could become confusing.... Sad

Apparently the DVLA 'lost' a lot of green V5s, which they suspect have been used for 'cloning, this is intended to stop that happening. Quite how breakers will get on I don't know, you can bet scrapping will now cost money though.

As I reported earlier I received the new style V5 last week.
Earlier I swapped a Honda Superdream 250cc engine for a 400cc engine. I informed the DVLA using the appropriate section of the V5.
Big mistake, the DVLA in their wisdom were not prepared to take my word for it, so when the bike was MOTd I had the garage give me a letter of confirmation and sent it off the Swansea.
Much to my surprise I received the new V5 within two weeks.
This morning I received a letter from the DVLA informing me that they had now updated their records and I was no longer listed as the Registered Owner!
How do they do it?
