the bike decided to not start after a run of about 40 miles, started from a jump start though, so i checked the voltage across the battery terminals only getting 12.42v at 5k going down to 11.2 at idle, so i disconnected the stator connections and checked the windings, these were balanced at .2ohms across all 3 phases, and 68 volts at 5k, so i assummed it was the regulator, went to DK motorcycles online who supplied me with a new one (eventually),fitted that today and checked the voltage at the battery, and low and behold no difference, in fact the voltage was worse, i thought the battery might be drawing the voltage down so changed the battery for a new one, again to no avail , checked all the connectors and there are no burnt ones in the line so my question is where do i go from here ??? any ideas?????

Its always confusing when it comes to electrics, especially when you have changed what appears to be Honda's electrical downfall.

Obviously should register around 12v, then rise to 13-14v when running.

Have you given the battery a proper charge? I didnt ride the Daytona for 5 days and the battery was so low it gave up Laughing

What about the other connections running to the reg/rec.

Green wires should have continuity to earth. Red wires should have battery voltage in them.

If there is a black or white on black wire, it should have battery voltage in it only when the ignition is on.

well i bought a new altenator from BBBikeshop and guess what !!! i`m still not charging properly so took a trip down to the local bike shop to ask for some on the spot advice , now i`m getting 54v ac across phase`s @ 5k revs ( a bit low) but more importantly 20v ac to frame with the altenator unplugged!!!!! this started to ring bells ,ie did i trap a cable, so a quick strip down was in order and no i hadn`t so i rang up BB Bikes and all he could say was send it back and they`ll check it out, i`m not getting any leakage to earth and i must admit its def got me stumped now,
