There's a hotel by me that's been shut down for about 6 years, not lived here too long but after a night drinking with mates on the way back we decided it would be awesome to find a way in.
We spent about 2 hours on the roofs trying to find entry, then looked around the lower level and found tramps had already broken a wooden panel through a door.

very unnerving inside, the place is massive. everything's boarded up so it's pitch black 24/7. got pretty far in, but couldn't clear all the rooms easy to make sure we were alone, let alone go upstairs.
apparently it's been known for use as a drug den. someone had ben squating there...

one corridor that branched off with 2 stairways coming off further down. at the end was what used to be the reception.

been back a few times since then but no more as they're renovating it to flats.

been to hellingly but couldnt get in, that's mostly gone now.

And some other weird place near lewes that i cant find the pictures of and the name escapes me. used to be a zoo or something on a huge estate. still loads of animals there and this massive thing that looked like a martello tower in the middle. was very creepy. shall try and find better info.

Hellingly is easy to get into if you know how and with a little persistence Wink

Well worth the journey too Thumbs Up

I have some pictures somewhere, or maybe the_godfather has them Thinking I will get one of us to pop them on here.

Anyway, recommended if you have a day to waste, PM me for details on how to get in, we have used 3 or 4 different entrances so you should be able to get in through at least one of them. Also I have read on several different sites that security only do 2 patrols of the site a day, bearing in mind how big the site is, I would say you are relatively safe from being caught, I have never seen anybody inside the fences other than the group I have been with.

Severalls is well worth a thought.
Again, slightly tricky to get into if you dont know where/how (and i have a feeling there is more patrolling than there used to be Neutral).

Awesome place, although its worth noting that some of the buildings in the complex are still occupied Neutral!

Never Heard of it personally - is the point of it just to "break in" to a derelict / abandoned building and have a look arround?? and hope you dont get bum poked by a tramp defending his stash of 1980's Asda crisp packets?

sounds like fun - anyone know of anywhere near York / Leeds to have a go??

p/s - some of the photo's look awesome ! Karma

There's loads of places in North Wales that are really easy to access as there's little or no security but I'm having a much harder time of it in Manchester, I'm still getting into places though. There's loads of places I want to try and get into here in Manchester but the much higher risk of being arrested is keeping me on the easy explores at the moment.

There was also a pint of milk that went out of date before I was
born, and a calendar of nuclear activity for 1992.

Off to explore an old pub tomorrow before they knock it down to build flats

Very Happy

Interesting, seeing as the final ROC posts were closed in 1991 and the ROC was disbanded.

There was at one point about 1500 across the UK, lots have been demolished now though.

If you are in the Bury/Bolton area there are loads of places, from drug rehab houses, old folks homes, schools, police stations, etc.

There was a big poster calendar on the wall with 1991/2 on it, and markings on the 1992 dates. I'll go down there and get a picture when I've got an hour spare.

Out of interest, how do you take pictures like this?

With the blues purples and yellows showing really vividly.

Long exposure does a good job of it in itself, but shoot in raw then play around with the levels in lightroom when you get home. Thumbs Up

Quite bloody hard to get into, It's St Georges mental asylum.

Could have done with at least a mask and gloves when we climbed the water tower at Hellingly, the whole thing was full of pigeons, pigeon shit, and dead pigeons.

The layer on the floor was about 2 inches thick, the accumulated mess of 10 years worth of pigeons.

Was worth it for the view from the top, we had no idea how big the asylum was until then. Also, in case anybody else goes, from the bottom of the tower you can go down a level and get to the service corridors that run underneath the whole of Hellingly asylum. We followed one of these for maybe 200 meters, there was a bit where the tunnels crossed and they continued as far as we could see. Haven't had a chance to have a proper explore of the tunnels yet, Wellington boots and a torch are recommended for anybody else who wants to take a peek, muddy shoes otherwise Sad
