BKS Gloucester Gloves

Has anyone got any honest feedback from these? (i.e. not from a paid review)

I saw these in Ride Magazine, the write up looked good and they seem to cater for my needs. However when I contacted a stockist to see if they had any in so I could go and have a proper look, I got a rant about not believing everything I read in the magazines...."BKS are still too new...there are decent long standing brands out there...blah blah".

I bought a pair based on the strength of the Bike review.

They're fine in weather > 5 degrees C, but last week saw the first of the subzeros. I have heated grips, but one slightly gammy finger, my left index. Fine for clutch work, but it doesn't naturally sit on the grip.

This finger froze so much it was sore the rest of the day.

I had tried on a pair of XXL's as that's all they had in the shop, and bought size L online. The fit is tight - I am a M to a L in glove size, so these are made on the smaller side.

Waterproofness: I haven't ridden in an absolute downpour, but have had bits of rain and drizzle, and no problems there.

The fit is good, in that they're not bulky - which is why I bought them: my current 10 year old pair feel like Michelin Man compared to my summer pair. I may go back to them. I'll give the BKS one more shot on a cold day and try an inner glove but I don't think they'll fit, the BKS are too tight.

Worth the money? No. I expected better warmth for my poor old fingers. The rest is good though.

I had a feeling having that much feel would comprise warmth but I had no idea to what degree.

Found another thread on winter gloves which was really helpful, think I'll go for the Spada Enforcers.

I have spada winter gloves wear them every day and they have so far given me a year of warm dry hands including downpours and riding in the snow!

I am massively impressed with my BKS leathers after my off. My A* SP1s on the other hand (puntastic) did not fare so well. Still wearable but the palm bit slightly disintegrated.

+1 For the Spada Enforcers, mine have been ace so far, bit bulky when new but once bedded in have a reasonable sence of feel for the controls.
