There have been posts that have been changed by mods.
Ok! , so only 2 that I know of... but surely that is 2 too many.

Are moderators allowed to change people posts without:
1) any form of warning.
2) an explanation why.

I am still fairly naive in the ways of forums and rules and stuff.

Hi

The only posts I am likely to change without being requested are those where someone has screwed up the use of bb code, resulting in quotes, images not being included, etc, being a mess. I do this quite regularly.

I will only do it on request for a very serious reason (and the original poster has the power to do it themselves anyway). Tends to be if it is that serious then it requires filing in the mods forum with all the spam rather than modifying.

A possible exception to this would be if someone is posting someone elses contact details for all to see without permission.

All the best

Keith

This all sounds as I would expect.
ie: changes are made when something is posted that is considered illegal, or may endanger someones safety etc.

Are there unwritten rules around what happens if you have a mod that is ferrel .... a wild card ... militant ... a bit on an independent thinker ? All a bit Che ?

Hi

I can't comment for the other mods, except to say I trust their judgement.

Note that one thing you might find is that posts have disappeared if they were just replies telling spammers to go forth and multiply. If I have chopped the spammers posts from a thread then I will also chop the replies to it. Don't want the spammers to have any publicity.

All the best

Keith

Cover me Joe ... I am going in ...*flashbang*.

Like all regimes ... with a select few that weald power and influence (step in any time Hetzer.. any time son) , I think you may need to 'review' certain moderators behaviour.
Maybe a simple reminder of the responsibilities that they have, and how abuse of that or using for selfish needs could ultimately lead to the downfall of the forum.

https://www.bikechatforums.com/viewtopic.php?t=21811

Basically of frequent users it is G, Bendy and I.

All the best

Great .. thanks Bendy.
It is ironic that the list of the mods, some of whom are bending the rules, are in the 'The Rules' section Smile
(see how clever I am with my use of the bold function Dance! )

Can I suggest you perhaps you need someone who is a stickler for the rules.
No pointless posts .... No animated avatars ... And correct spelling at all times.
Someone with integrity ... a champion of others ... somone that would not use the powers for his own gain.
I really dont have the time myself ... but if you were to really insist ! Rolling Eyes

ah haaa! excellent ... my detecterivering skills have deduced the following.

Of the listed moderators:
Korn - no longer dirtys himself with small things like the content of the forum
Kickstart - above reproach and obviously not a suspect.
Stew - who ?
TiN - who ?
maurice - who ?

This leaves the gruesome twosome.
G
Bendy

Please explain yourselves.

We also have Yambabe. But she is Northern and should be awarded a Michelin Star for her desserts...so beyond reproach.

This assumes the 'editor' is an active poster, it may be one of the other moderators hiding in the background as all nefarious super villains do.

I certainly wouldn't feel the need to explain anything to someone that uses a comma after an exclamation mark!

You avoidance will be taken as an admission of guilt.
Bendy, how do you plead ?
