Latest update here: https://www.bikechatforums.com/viewtopic.php?p=2805413#2805413

As it stands this morning. Slightly bent handlebars, missing a panel. The idling issue seems to have sorted itself out after a 10 mile ride this morning, wondering if it'd been run on the reserve before and was slightly clogged. Will see if it re-occurs later.

That looks great from the pic.
Front mudguard looks weird in chrome though. Should be red like the rear.

Probably but as I'm replacing the bars too, I'll get mirrors that suit it more...though it'll be using those mirrors for a little while.

Anyway, new parts ordered.

I'd have a look for a side cover as well. If it's airbox (think that side is Confused) then no worries for MOT. You do need to make sure battery is covered properly and securely though.

Had to adjust the handlebars to lean a little further back after a test ride as it was a touch uncomfortable, and you'll notice the right side clamp is a little bent too, so need to order clamps Very Happy
The idiot lights panel is missing a bolt too (my fault I dropped it and then lost it) so cable tied on one side for now, so it's uneven, will put a new bolt in at the same time as I replace the clamps. Also still waiting on the bar ends, hopefully they arrive Monday.

Overall it's made the bike much more comfortable and a better riding position in my opinion Smile

Need to order some more mirrors...the ones on the bike now there is no way to actually see behind very well as they were designed for the standard bars for the Virago Very Happy

Found a mirror I had lying around from my old Yamaha SR so chucked that on there so I have one mirror that actually lets me see behind Very Happy
Ordered a matching pair for £5.99 from Taiwan via eBay, probably cheap shoddy crap but it'll do until after Christmas when I have some spare money Razz

It's not too bad, but honestly I think I'd use my other bike for MOD 1 Very Happy

Not updated in a while so here goes.

Added new mirrors, of course I didn't think to check how the mirror mounts were affected by the new bars, so I had to use some ugly adaptors I had lying around to get the mirrors in a useable position Very Happy
I think I may switch back to a more original shape of handlebars, after Xmas.
The chrome front mudguard had a few parts where the chrome layer had come off and was rusting away (cheap pattern part not the original) so I used Kure rust on it and painted it matt black (only paint I have!) which will do until I can source a proper mudguard, or proper coloured paint to repaint it.

Still after a RH side panel but that's all. The bike is running nicely and anything else is just cosmetics Engine case could do with repainting as could the frame, but I am not currently confident enough in my ability to disassemble and reassemble the bike to do those Very Happy Maybe a job for the future.

So updates, I found a side panel, but it was green. Sod buying proper Yamaha dark red or whatever colour the bike is, so I decided to just paint the whole thing matt black. It's pretty much a rat anyway so may as well have the colour scheme to go with.

Spraying skills? What spraying skills....Take the tank off to paint it? No I say NO.

From the side:

Other side:
https://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll68/asmodeanv/Bike/P220311_1444_02.jpg

Funny enough though, the bike is actually riding better than when I bought it, despite it's looks. It's cosmetically shite but mechanically sound Very Happy Had to buy a new battery a couple of weeks ago, it was still running the original battery Shocked and this winter finally killed it.
I'm not worried about resale value, I bought this cheap as chips to mess with, and I'll run it until I can't afford to, or until I do my full test next year and somehow can afford a bigger bike (I can dream that I might have some money spare next year...) Smile

You posting reminded me that I haven't updated in a while.
So here it is in it's current (shite) state.

Yep all updated. I agree on looking better without L's but that's got to wait a little longer now, as I have to move house by the 21st Oct..and my savings are having to go to the deposit on new place.
BAH! There goes test and big bike again Sad (should have done it earlier in the year I guess..but then of course I wouldn't have been able to afford to move Smile )
