Passed my mod 2 yesterday...To say I'm delighted is an understatement 
2 minors; Too close to the car in front on a dual carriageway- I was dithering about whether to overtake or not, and ended up too close. Other one was for late indicator cancel; I'd pressed the button, but it hadn't switched off. I did realise in time though..
His final comment though was interesting; He said he would have failed if he was allowed to because I rode the slow bits with my visor up!!!
Bloody whinging Welshman...My instructor said he just likes to moan cos he's been posted to Bristol against his will...
Anyway, a huge thank you to BMTC in Bristol; Excellent all round service!

Its a good job they cant fail you for that. I done the majority of my test with the visor up and riding at anything upto 30 I tend to have the thing open.

The old CG looky likey is still in Turkey, and will no doubt be inherited by the next new pilot 
I'll be on the lookout for something along the lines of an Africa Twin/Transalp/GS when I come back from my winter sojourn in Myanmar in march... 
The examiner told me a story about a mate of his crashing his bike and breaking his leg in 2 places after getting hit in the eye by a bee...guy was a pro footballer  BUt still he should just do his job, not be a road safety lecturer 
If he saw what I wore in Turkey this summer, he'd have kittens

Well done mate! Seems to be a flurry of passes at the moment. I thought it got quieter at about this time of year, what with the crap weather?
I think I may know who your examiner is. There used to be two at Newport, but now I think it's just one and the other has been shipped out, so I'm assuming it's him. When I was training for my Mod 1 nearly 2 months ago my instructor told me 'always keep your visor down, one of the examiners here doesn't like them up.'
Incidentally my examiner and instructor chatted about this for FIVE MINUTES after my test had finished, keeping me waiting for the result the whole time! I hope they didn't do anything as despicable with you!
Nice choice on the bike front by the way, that's pretty much exactly what my shopping list was Had a look at the big GS, too big (for the moment).
Ruled out the Africa Twin as if you want a newish one they cost a fortune. Considered a decent looking KLE 500 for a while, but then saw a very nice F650GS going for cheap. Hopefully picking it up 8th November
You planning any trips, or just like that style of bike?

For subjective things like visors? No, thanks all the same.
Anecdote: When I passed, the examiner got as far as "You had 1 minor fault...", when I interjected "Hang on, I'm not interested. Can I just have my pass certificate." Dickish? Maybe, but... I really didn't care. After riding 20 miles solo though a bona fide blizzard to the test centre, then being followed in a car because, aww, it was too cold for diddums to wide his bike, I didn't give a stuff about his opinion of my riding ability.
Examiners don't have superpowers, they're just blokes on bikes with over-inflated egos. You're paying their mortgage. Don't forget who's the customer, and who's the employee. |

Not really subjective at all tbh. It does mitigate against the risk of being hit by a stone chip/bee/flying albatross.
Visors = eye protection.
Up or down is personal preference, but the examiner is paid to tow the line and to promote safer riding in general so don't be acting all "SURPRISE BUTTSEX!" if you get told a few words about risks you are taking.
ackowledge, walk away with the cert, perform a rolling burnout out of the test centre and get the f**k on with riding
