Hi
Nice enough bikes, but with nightmare front brakes. "Inboard" disks, which were a pain to work on.
Also I think the coolant is routed through the frame tubes, which can lead to some nasty frame corrosion.
Meant to handle well enough. Comfy.
As to restriction, other than trying to get the carbs off the should restrict well enough. Not sure if anyone does a kit.
They were UK models but plenty were imported as grey imports as well. There was also a fully faired version that was only a grey import (the UK version of that was the VF500).

Despite my soft spot for 80s bikes I think I'll probably get something a bit newer and more sensible. Thanks for your advice  ____________________ Riding: BMW R1150RT `02 bought mildly crashed
