Hi all Thumbs Up
I am new to the motocycle scene and have always been into cars but as i have a ban on my licence i can't afford to insure my car this year.

I have bought a Suzuki CS50 Moped and have booked my CBT, managed to get a great quote of under £300 fully comp which is 10x cheaper than my car quote lol.

Any-way I am wanting to know how i can get a bit more poke out my 49cc engine as she will only do 30mph lol, I'm not wanting to spend loads of money otherwise i would of bought a bigger CC bike.

I've had a little search on the net and can't find much on the cs50 so hoping someone on here my be-able to help me out.

All help will be much appreciated

Hi, the roadie is a bit slow aint it! they did a 70cc version so maybe try and get a top end off one of those? I did a bit of work on one a week or so back, involved cutting the exhaust open to clean crud out, so while i was in there i drilled out the baffle plates. Made a difference as it would hit 40 now, but they are still limited by gearing..

Looks like quite a retro bike, I like it Thumbs Up
In terms of speed, theres little information about it, so im guessing aftermarket parts are quite minimal.
Is it a 4 or 2 stroke...again the information escapes me Sad

Also..£300 for FC moped with a ban.. thats quite good Thumbs Up

To 2Smoke...

yeah quite slow lol but doing that with the exhaust seems to have a great effect so think i will be deffiently doing that after the MOT. Thumbs Up
Also will look into the 70cc top end. I Know they did a 125cc version and was thinking would the engine fit on the 50cc frame??
What work did you do on your racing one?
Thanks for the advice aswell mate Thumbs Up

To paddy...

yeah it is quite retro, I am currently restoring on old Vauxhall Nova on the old Y Plate which is very retro aswell lol.
The bike is a 2 stroke (I think) lol as for parts from what i have found so far their is not very many.
I couldent believe the quotes i was getting aswell mate as i couldent get the insurance for a group 1 vauxhall corsa below £3000!!!

Never heard of a 125 version sorry. Just a bit of light tuning on ours, kept crashing so never progressed it further! Got a city express doing 50 but that was with the variomatic gearing

Try other cars... corsa/106/206/saxo/fiesta are pretty much "write off" cars in insurance eyes.

Go for odd cars, such as a rover 25, vw lupo, toyota yaris... check quotes on the cars you wouldnt consider a "first car" Thumbs Up

to put in perspective, Im 22 and insure a 3litre toyota supra, £1500 FC, now for me to go FC on an Impreza.. ~£4000

Powerful cars, just one is notorious for being smashed up, and one is a respected car owned by people who like to look after their things Laughing

doubt it really as it is only 49cc at the end of the day. most of the auto scooters have some sort of restrictor in the belt drive that limits the top speed.
