Anyone know of a reliable, experienced shipping agent? I want to ship a bike from the US to the UK.

look on your yellow pages for a freight agent (customs authorised) , some years ago i was working in such a company and i usually send package to the states either fly or sea . sea will take around 3 weeks (may be less if you find a ship going when you put the bike on) . flying will be possible at 5 to 10 sea price .
hope you'll find your shipping

Seems there is mixed opinion to know if its worth the effort and Mr. Taxman seems most bent on spoiling the party Evil or Very Mad Have also considered a parallel import but so far I have located only 2 dealers. I am still in the US so I can't check on them until I get back - by when I will have missed the boat if it turns out importing is worth a crack....decisions, decisions - sod it : time for a Bud Whistle

Alains:

When you mention *customs authorized* Does that mean the shipping agent deals with all of the customs issues?

Thanks for taking the trouble to search the archives - that was really helpful Thumbs Up

I think you will find that it is marginal at best costwise

will probably cost more to insure

and may not be easy to get any warranty work done

also, if you are looking to buy what your name suggests then well done, you made the right choice but there are some in dealers over here for silly money as long as you don't mind the old shape
