My Shoei's often seem to make some odd noises - get slightly worrying 'siren' like sounds from them. However, they are the best fit of all the helmet brands, so I stick with them.
I use earplugs or decent plug-style ear phones for long journeys whatever the helmet.

Was it a xr1100 per chance?
Either way its usually pretty simple to fix.

Take off the visor and loosen the 2 screws on both of the mechanism plates (the bit the visor goes on to)

You will now notice that there is some free-play with the whole plate

Push the plates backward toward the rear of the lid and tighten the screws

Reconnect the visor and bob should be your uncle, a better seal!

Very Happy

Hmm.. fiddled with the vents any? Whistlings usually vents or visor.. could always try the neck piece.. stick a buff on and pad it round your neck, see if it makes a difference Very Happy

Any new shoei with the CW-1 visor mechanism can be rectified by doing what chillyman described - so this will be lids like the Qwest, XR1100 and Xspirit II.

slacken the screws and move the base plate backwards and retighten. The visor has a spring-back mechanism which pulls the visor closer to the seal.

Failing that, spend 3 quid on some silicone grease from maplin and smear it all around the rubber seal on the helmet. Oh, if your lid DID come with the chin strip, add that!

If it's on an older lid like the XR1000 OR the Raid II, the same applies. Undo the base plate screws and move the base plate backwards. Apply silicone grease and it should disappear.
