My Oxford heated grips are currently wired to my battery, I want them wiring to my ignition and have bought another inline fuse and a 12v relay switch but I need some more wiring to go from relay to fuse box, what kind of wiring do I get from maplins?

Thanks

Hi

Just make sure that the wire you buy can take more amps than the fuse for the circuit by a reasonable margin.

I would use the rear brake light switch feed as the trigger for the relay for the heated grips.

All the best

Hi

You can if it is long enough, but you still need an extra wire to run from a switched power supply (ie maybe the rear brake light switch) to the relay and from the relay trigger -ve to earth.

All the best

Yes, but I think he was meaning the wire from the switched live to the grips.

Anyway ... if it is any help, I actually wired mine into the cooling fan (switched) live at the fusebox.

That way I didn't need to faff with any relays.

My rationale for going for the fan circuit was that not only is it 'switched', but it will basically be inactive when the grips are on*, so I am not sharing load/overloading anything.

What bike is it BTW?

*lets face it, how many times is the fan going to come on when it is cold enough you need to have grips on!! Wink
