Thats kinda random...if your asking about a 125....then no race pipes are pointless on small capacity bikes.

But if u have a big bike...and u want more noise? then go for it.

Micron are mass produced cans/exhausts there road going exhausts are alittle poor in that there has been no R&D in to gaining power etc...all there exhausts are the same...they just change the fittings.

Thumbs Up

This is for the CBR125 right?

They Barely increase the power, however the micron is slightly better at increasing hp than the scorpion if you are trying to choose between the two. The scorpion is supposed to be really loud.

On the whole, they will not make much difference and it is a lot of money for bugger all.

Yes it's for the CBR125. The only reason I am asking is because my brother saw an advert in the shop I am getting it from and it said, 'CBR125 Micron exhaust, adds 23% power, stainless steel - £200, titanium or carbon fibre - £300.'

And seeing as how they are taking so long to get my bike in and not being helpful what so ever I am sure I could get the price down even more, and adding 23% would bring it up to approx. 16/17bhp. (A little more respectable)

Any ideas then? I wouldn't of thought about it, but £200 is cheap seeing as I plan on keeping the bike for a good few years.

Well it is up to you, but I very much doubt it will take the power to 17hp, it will look and sound nicer though. Like you say if you can get it cheaper, and you have the money then why not.

I'm presuming it will maybe add on about 15% power max, which will bring it up to about 15bhp. Are they larger pipes? The standard one on the CBR125 looks like a matchstick so would this be bigger? I've not seen the microns before.

thats alittle high ur likely to get maybe 2-3bhp out of the race system......which doesnt really justify the price, u may as wel just save your cash and spend it on a bigger bike one day

The way I am thinking is that I might be able to get it for £100 as they have messed me around a lot. And to get it from 13bhp to 16bhp wouldn't be a bad thing, it might then be on par with the NSR and RS. My brother got an increase of 3bhp on his SV650 and it changed the top speed from 125mph up to 131mph.
If I can increase the top speed to approx 80mph, it wont overwork the engine as much when i'm cruising at 65ish.
I know I probably sound like i've already decided now... But your views are welcome.
Plus I plan on keeping the bike for a few years as it will be a commuter when I come home on leave from Germany, instead of driving the car back I could fly.

Hi

If you can get it for £100 and are prepared to put up with the noise (or even like the noise) then it is probably worthwhile, but £200~£300 is a rip off.

Chances are that it will add a small amount of power but unless the CBR is restricted in the silencer (think it is just a replacement can) then the gains are going to be tiny. It might well be enough to get the bike to hit a true 80 on flat level ground in neutral conditions , but it will not be enough to really make any difference when comparing the bike to a full power Mito or RS.

It will not give the engine an easier time. You will still be putting the same amount of strain on the engine. It might make it slightly easier to cruise at 65~70, but it might also screw up the power delivery and make it harder due to the shape of the power curve. An example of this was the Renault Clio we used to have that would cruise happily on the motorway in 5th at 80, but if you were doing 70 then it could not maintain that speed up hills without changing down.

All the best

Keith

If they will do it for £100 fair enough, but £200 sounds a lot for something that will not have a lot of effect power wise (I would be very sceptical of a 23% increase) and won't make much difference to the price when you sell it on.

23% power increase is probley at the engine and not the rear wheel

Well there is yet another idea going through my head now. Fed up of waiting for the bike from the dealership I have found someone selling a second hand one so might look into that.

The advert apparently said the exhaust was designed for the CBR125... If so I would of thought it wouldn't affect the power curve? Or am I talking utter crap?

The CBR is not restricted from what I have heard, it just has a standard 13.6bhp apparently. Thanks for all the advice... I just need to think about where to get the bike from.

16bhp is not the same as the NSR or RS just so you know. Danny had his full power NSR tested on a dyno last year and it came out at 23.4bhp, the RS will be a bit more than it, around 25bhp ish.

Is it worth buying? It's upt o you as it's your money not anyone elses. Won't get any real performance gains from it, and do you like the looks or do you not is the question. Also, you'll (well, officially) be meant to tell your insurance, if you do or not is again up to you (lots don't bother to tell about exhausts changed) but again that's up to you.

Your money, depends how you value it really. If it was me I wouldn't bother buying one, as I'd rather save the money and do some lessons and pass my test and then sell the bike and get a bigger one. Thumbs Up

I understand it's not the same... But it is getting there, lol. The chances are I wont be selling this for as long as I am in the army as it will be a perfect commuter for whilst I am on leave from postings abroad. So I am also not bothered about it holding it's value. But do they make riding easier at all, or would I still have to redline it to get anywhere?

Well if you're wanting to get closer to being able to perform like an NSR does, why not sell the CBR and get yourself a NSR, they will perform lots better than the CBR, and will be basically a more fun bike and you'll therefore enjoy it more. Smile Thumbs Up

Because I dont have the CBR yet Laughing After reading what I wrote before, I realized there is no point in getting the exhaust. As I said, the bike will be used for commuting only when I leave the country.
And as for the NSR...(I feel like starting an argument) NSR's are poop. Wink

I'd rather not go with a bike that seems to take up 30% of the 'workshop' section. Sorry to all you NSR fans.

It fills the workshop section as there are more owners and more owners means more queries about them. And there isn't anything wrong with them at all, and if you look after them well then they're fine, just like the CBR will need looking after to keep it working.
