COD 4 for PC, Can't find any servers?

I have been told I need to look into port forwarding.

I need to look what ports COD4 uses and them change them through my router settings but havn't the a clue how to go about this.

Any help thanks!
I am using 1.6 patch as well as up to date punk buster.
I know lots use 1.6, I just can't detect any servers.

cant help with the port forwarding..but there are plenty of servers out there at the mo..played last night....another thing is make sure you allow cod4 thru your firewall by adding it an an exeption

I have checked windows firewall and it's allowed through. Dunno about AVG 9.0 free. Don't think it has a firewall on the free version.

I have carried all BT HUB instruction with no probs and installed 1.7 patch. It still won't detect servers.

I have set up a new port profile with ICP and UDP 28960 for BT hub network to allow.

It's allowed past windows firewall too.

No luck as yet.

I had the same problem with another game, i'd forward a port and it still wouldn't work.

I don't understand, but I do know, that once I refresh the server list. My computer looses connection and unless I join the game, this connection will lag out for a few minutes when not in game.

yeah i followed instructions from that website for port forwarding but no joy. Just done a factory restor of laptop. Will see if that changes anyting.

Try setting you PC IP to DMZ in your router see if that works, if it does then you know it's your router firewall/port forwarding.

I am finding COD4 uses different ports.

I took it next door, plugged ethernet cable in, used their router and it worked. . Took it back round to mine, plugged my ethernet cable in and it carried on working, for now at least.

Now I have switched everything off and swithed it all back on again ti won't work. Can't find any servers again.

Have you tried shutting off the router and modem off for a while?


Also, 28960 and other ports are to do with the server, you don't enable those ports on your router unless you are hosting a server yourself I should know, I used to have a Dedicated CODUO server back in the day.

No it's just COD4 isn't in the list of games allowed through the BT network (nver stopped me before like!) so I created a port forward frofile by typing in my ip address into URL ETC no avail.

I have a good fresh install
I have installed 1.6 patch
I have installed and updated punk buster
I have even tried a port forward profile via my IPS.

I took my laptop next door and used thier internet connection with no problems. Call ed back round mine, plugged my ethernet in and it worked fine, but as soon as I swithed everything off as well as the router, then swithched it all back on again I had the same problem. Still can't find any COD 4 servers.

Any suggestions?

It's really weird, I can install medal of honour and play multi player no problems but not COD 4.

I can detect the severs with next doors internet connection but mine.

Don't think so, I have added COD 4 and updated it. In the past I have been able to detect servers even without punkbuster installed, you just get booted out of some servers if it's not installed.

I have done a port forwarding check on UDP 28960 & TCP 28960 the port COD 4 uses. The results are negative. I have a networking problem. I have tried setting up a port forwarding profile with BT but it still won't work.

Strange thing is, is that if I use next doors internet connection I don’t have any problems and we both have the same BT home hub 2.0 and obviously the same ISP.

I've had a problem with punk buster for the last 3 days but even then it lets you find servers and join a game just kicks you after 15 seconds action or so...cod 5 however i aint got going in the last year of trying..total shit

I heard bad company 2 online is very godd. 60 player servers and stuff. Gunna try that. Selling Medal Of Honour, I can't even trade it in for another game because of the online registration issue. So gunna sell it private and hand over the online EA account details.

UPnP should be enabled. It entirely negates the need to port forward, unless your router is really old.

Would you believe it! An indian from an indian call center gave me the correct port settings, (Much different than the instructions from other wedsites) I had to switch off the BT firewall too.

Yeah thanks but the instructions on there are not correct for COD 4.

The port settinds I am using are:

TCP 1-65000...1-65000..TCP...Trigger Port 65000
UDP1-65000...1-65000..UDP...Trigger Port 65000
I had to set up a whole new port forward profile and switch BT firewall off. Wierd, never had this problem before.

They give different port settings on that site.
