There are various codes on your licence, one of them should be 115, it should be written under the little pictures of vehicles you are allowed to drive or ride on your plastic licence.
If it is not there please get it put on.
115 means that you are an organ donor.
As a biker we all know the risks and some of us do not make it, in general we leave nice young bodies behind full of good organs. As a last act we can help those still alive.
Today I heard a young girl I know needs a transplant so I am a little emotional but I feel this is important.

The counter argument to this is, they only harvest live organs, so they are removed while you are alive, when they have made the judgement that you are brain dead. I don't trust someone else's judgement on that.

Loads of cases of people being in a coma for years, considered a vegetable etc, and then coming round.

Call me selfish if you like, but my organs will remain in my body to avoid the risk of someone removing them when I still have use for them.

Cheeky doctors refer to bikers as organ donors, so we are a bit too much of an obvious choice already.

If I get paralysed in an accident and am unconscious, some doctor might make the judgement that 5 other peoples lives would be transformed, if I were allowed to die, to give my organs. After all 5 lives for 1 life, its for the greater good isnt it. No thanks.

Well I'm a bit surprised. I expected to get slated for my opinion, but it turns out to be just the opposite, 2 people agree with me without anyone disagreeing yet.

It's fine for me to have this opinion, but I want you lot to give generously, in case I ever need something.

Where did you get that one from? Laughing

Organs are only removed once the death has been certified.

I also agree with Colin, I am going to get buried, and whole.

I am afraid I've never believed in it to be honest, sure that may sound cold. But, I am just one of those persons who sees something different than another.

Of course, if it happened to someone close to me my opinion would no doubt be different as it has seemed to affected Badger so. Everyone has that opinion until it happens to someone they know or god bless, themself.

When I became a prospective donor many years ago my reasoning was that I could well need organs myself someday and I would be a hypocrite if I did not at least meet the NHS halfway and sign up myself.
One day you will die but you could help another person to live. I am an atheist but to me that is a thing of almost spiritual wonder and glory. By doing such things we become more than the other beasts of our planet

May as well do something nice after you die, not like I'm going to need any organs after I'm gone

The organs are still live even if you are dead, as long as they don't leave it too long.

I'd prefer to be a live hypocrite than a dead organ donor. Many deaths are brought about by the withdrawal of treatment. Must be a bit tempting to jump the gun, if someone has live organs to harvest, and time slots in surgery are precious.

When i am dead all I want to leave my friends and are memories and the worms can go to hell. Even my tattoos are going to be recycled, I have promised my friend George my skin so she can make something nice from it.

Who ever said I am normal? I am far better than that and I find your sentence structure very odd.

Worked hard all your life? Help yourself matey!

Jeremy Kyle Fodder? Best go see if they have a special on kidneys in Asda.

I really can't make a decision either way.

In the case of the girl I know....
18 with the world in front of her. She could achieve greatness after leaving university or she could be just a wife, a mother, a grandmother.
She could be you.

I've posted about this before.

Can see both sides. The probability I suspect is you've got an incredibly low risk of actually ending up worse off.

Trying to find it, but pretty sure there was some questionable situations in the UK.
Where it's possible someone did/could have recovered, or where the medical people actually actively stopped assistance, so they could get a decent harvest due to a particular shortage, etc.

Of course, if there were a lot more people doing it, there would probably be less issues.

Why anybody wants burying these days is beyond me. Confused

Once I'm dead and gone, I want my family and friends to remember me as and when things jog their memory of these times.

I dont want people gathering round my grave once a month/year/whatever.

Wouldn't be so selfish to be honest.
Once im dead, my organs are welcome to anybody who needs them. What left will be cremated and scattered somewhere. I dont want to be stuck in some urn on my kids mantle piece either! Laughing

Weirdos.

I'm on the donor list and my family know my wishes.

If I'm on life support I'd rather not let my family suffer watching me waste away. If I can't have a decent quality of life (I don't count being confined to a hosptial bed being supported by machines 24/7 as quality) then I'd rather not be here thanks.

I won't need the organs when I'm dead so help yourselves.
