Forgive me if this has been done to death (and I know there's a topic on what you keep under your seat) but as I'm hoping to have my bike on the road shortly I just want an idea of what kit you guys take out on a ride / on a commute

I'm thinking of carrying a basic emergency kit in the bottom of my backpack with:

Spanners
Screwdrivers
pliers
Puncture aerosol thingy
Emergency fiver

Is this enough or what am I missing??

Mobile phone with a camera on it, paper and pen.

Also, don't stick screwdrivers and sharp objects in a backpack, if you come off you could end up getting stabbed by them.

Standard tool kit, some spare fuses, a cargo net and the removeable exhaust baffle under the seat.
An allen key set and a small adjustable spanner in the top box.
Mobile phone, house and garage keys and wallet in my pockets.

edit: and waterproof overtrousers on longer rides, on the rare occasion that I remember them.

Phone, wallet, keys, sunglasses and maybe a bottle of water. Got family with transit vans and even a recovery truck so if the worst happens I'm covered (and for free).

Shocked good point on the screwdrivers....though I was thinking one of those wee cycling multi-tools with all the drivers / allen keys folded in so shouldn't be too bad?

Always keep my mobile (with camera) on me anyway

Never thought of a torch good call.

Waterproofs I'm gonna wear overtrousers, my textile jacket coped with a major soaking last time I was out and my commute is only 10miles so should be fine I hope....

One debit card in jacket with license.. wallet in pillion seat. Disk lock and that's about it. I've got a basic tool kit - one of those halfords combi screwdrivers with allen heads etc. Gaffa tape and cable ties. That's about it really. Disc lock stays under the seat too along with a sidestand puck if i end up parking in gravel/mud

Oh yeah, WD40 and microfibre. One tucked under the screen for my visor. And one under the seat... to wipe my seat dry!

Sometimes a bottle of water.

The original bike tool kit, cable ties (these are always under the seat), phone, wallet & side stand puck. My disc lock in is the lockable front pocket, but it never gets used (it is still there from my holiday).

I carried them for years, especially on trips abroad, but never needed them and eventually just left them out. I've never had a puncture on a bike (now I've said that, I'll probably find all 4 tyres on both bikes flat when I go to the shed later!)
