insurance qu = ncd transferable from cbt to full license?

hi am new to the forum and have got a bit of an insurance headache!! i have a yam ybr125 on a cbt and have built up 2 years no claims. the other day it fell on a neighbours car in the wind (my fault parked too close) and did £360 worth of damage. i can't figure out whether to pay up and protect the no claims or go through the insurance. im 28 and my premium last year was only £101. i intend to do the full test next year and get a 250cc prob no bigger. am also intending to do my car test (not sure if these are transferable). basically im confused whether the no claims discount covers over to the full bike license when you pass? if so will it pay for itself when i get a bigger bike or should i just run it through the insurance as the premium on my 125 will prob only go up by £100??

any suggestions greatly received. thanks.

I had 2 years no claims from northern ireland when I passed my test. The insurers just asked for the policy number of the last years insurace to validate the no claims.

NCD is NCD, it's the number of years you've held a policy without a claim. Your licence status during that time is irrelevent.

So yes, NCD earned on your provisional still 'counts'.

Some car insurers will let you use bike ncb, but then of course you can't use it on your bike. Vice versa also applies, just depends on the company.

Insurance companies have us by a tight grip on our balls.

This poor man pays for insurance, yet the insurance companies our basically blackmailing us into paying for any unintentional damage we cause ourselves.
