Sky, end of contract

I've come to the end of my 12 month contract with sky. Has anyone had any luck recently with getting an incentive from them to sign up for another 12 months?
If so how did you do it?

I wouldn't expect SKY to give much in incentives to stay on. The best thing to do is call up, tell them that your SKY 12 month contract is due to end and that you are considering switching to Virgin as they offer free HD packages. Can they lower your bill, give you a free box etc. in order to keep your business

I used to sell SKY door to door and we had no room to offer lower prices than what sky were offering so it may be difficult.

Blag it, by saying that you are not renewing and see what they come back with. You might have to leave it a couple of months, then they will contact you with offers

You misunderstand, you are on a 12 month tie in contract, after 12 months it simply renews monthly with no tie in so there is no renewal for anothe 12 months, you are just now free to cancel whenever you want. If you sort out a new deal it'll only be monthly no new 12 month contract. If you do cancel though you will then have to be tied into another 12 month contract if you go back.

The only way you'll get something out of them is if you tell them you're leaving and they might do you a better deal but they might not. I left Sky for Virgin despite my terrible experience with Virgin a few years ago, it was a money saving excercise mainly though and I never watch TV so no point paying much for it.

We came to the end of our term and cancelled to see if we would miss it. Not once, freeview has most things and if not its always online.

I don't watch sports though so if that's your thing welcome to paying out the arse again

We saved about £30+ a month and its a space under the Tv for something new and shiney.
