Tthere is always jobs available, just some people think they are above doing them. Rolling Eyes

I would rather be out working for minimum wage than sat indoors going stir crazy.

I do think they should earn the money they get, as I do know a few people who claim job seekers allowance and some are doing fiddle work, even though it is called job seekers allowance, some do not seek work.

I don't qualify for benefits under the current system, I highly doubt I'll qualify for them under the new one.

Are you bored when not at work and left to your own devices??

Personally I can always fill my time with all sorts of interesting things, working for me is a serious intrusion on my personal time.

This isn't true, there are at best 750,000 jobs in the UK. This figure is decreasing all the time due to outsourcing and automation. There are currently 2.5 million officially unemployed out there.

There are also 12 million unofficial unemployed out there who are listed as economically inactive. Therefore there is a shortage of over 13 million jobs.

There is also a big fallacy. In that an economy like ours which has some elements of capitalism in it (it is more like a kleptocracy) requires people to be unemployed. When employment is nigh 100% the costs of labour go through the roof.

Yeah most of my friends like going to work otherwise they get bored...

I guess I'm in the minority but I can just find things to keep me occupied, mainly reading and researching things, thinking about stuff, making things.. etc etc BCF if all else fails Laughing

750,000 jobs
10,000,000+ people unemployed

Even if EVERYONE of those jobs was occupied there would still be at least a 10 million job short fall.

How many of the unemployed are actually seeking work (any job)?

I bet you know people who would not take a minimum wage job.

People need to be realistic. I would love to have a job that pays me £35,000 but until that happens I do what I do, and get by on what I earn.

Some people need to learn that they need to also give back and not just continually take.

As again even IF people took on these jobs there would still be 10,000,000+ people without jobs. Therefore your comment is completely spurious to the extreme. Thus even if these jobs did pay NMW and people took them there would simply not be enough jobs to go around even if they were forced into them.

And the jobs market is shrinking in addition to the imbalance.

The Kara bread factory I worked in for instance 10 years ago, they installed robots instead meaning virtually no staff.

Some of those will no doubt be living off the proceeds of an insurance policy on their income. Taking a min wage job would probably end the policy and leave them far worse off.

All the best

Sure, the crown just needs to give back the land it stole....

In that the government land control is the cause of almost all of the problems in existence. A huge rentier class exists to leech off people and this is supported by land confiscation.

Imagine this, I approach your motorbike with a massive lump hammer and smash it to bits. I have therefore deprived you of a bike. If I compensate you for it then there not much of a problem. However if I walk away and leave you with a smashed biked then there is a major problem. I have deprived you of something but not compensated you for it.

In the UK and most countries on earth except Mongolia and central Asian steppe there has been a mass confiscation of land by the force of arms. This land was what your forefathers used to use to feed themselves with. This land was stolen by the crown and we were not compensated for it.

Thus it is the situation as above they deprived you of something, that is your birth right and ability to feed yourself. They refuse to compensate you for this land theft yet also demand you play in their rigged casino to feed yourself.

This is a horrifically rigged game which the government perpetuates with divide and conquer.... hey look at those lazy doley scum over there. This is incredibly effective as you will jump to defend a system of crooks and willingly put chains onto yourself.

Just the same as someone who has a family, they get free school meals, free housing and free council tax. They wont look at a job that will mean they would be worse off.

That is the problem, no-one will work and be worse off.

IMO the government should be looking at. As an example lets say with all the benefits above, they are recieving £2000 a month. If they get a job that pays £1500 a month, then why wont the government give them £1000. That will half what they are recieving currently, and in time the top up will not be needed. As the kids grow up and leave school / home or they get a better job / pay rises.

Because that is simple and would work?

Much like reverse tax codes. Which already exists people already get 647L. So you have a child? Make it 947L. You get a benefit, but you still actually have to go out there and earn money to actually benefit from the additional tax free allowances.

Not really. This is something that someone has possibly been paying for over the last decades and is now making use of it.

Not always the case.

I dont agree with taking a job that will cause you to be worse off.

But with some they could do a minimum wage job and not be worse off. It is just that they won't.

My point was based on those with an insurance policy. Would you throw away say £2k a month from insurance to take a job paying under £1k a month?

Sure plenty might be doing OK on benefits, but these are not the ones I was referring to.

All the best

This thread was aimed at the unemployed who are playing the system.

As for your question, It would depend on the circumstances. If they are able to work then why are they receiving the insurance money?

If the money stops when they start work, but they are capable of working, then the money should be stopped.

Why, if they have paid for a policy that will cover them?

After all if you crashed you bike into a car would you be happy if your insurance company turned round and said that you can afford to pay out for the damage they wouldn't pay out?

All the best

I missed that, was it in 1066?
Sounds like a recipe for anarchy, not unlike Zimbabwe if you are seriously proposing some sort of land/property grab would solve anything.
Much of the problem in this country is the bureaucratic and tax rellated obstacles involved in employing someone.
Many small businesses could use more help from time to time, but would rather struggle on as they are than wrestle with the extra paperwork

If someone is receiving money because of an injury / sickness, but they have recovered then yes the money should stop.

If I crashed my bike into a car and I didn't want the insurance to repair my bike, then I would have got TPO insurance Thumbs Up

Not injury or sickness related. You can insure your income in case you lose your job (no different to insuring loan payments in case you lose your job).

But what you were proposing was that the insurer should be able to refuse to pay up when it suited them in the case of insured income.

All the best

Sorry, I had my wires crossed.

I thought it was a private insurance to cover sick / injury.

Is their a limit on how long it gets paid?

Otherwise some may never work again or even have to work again.
