 |

Whenever I've viewed this site I've seen nothing but scams. Are there actually genuine people on there?
Reason I ask is, I've come across this CG125 in great condition, and well, if I were to get it, I would use a delivery courier as Scotland is very far from me.
https://glasgow.gumtree.com/glasgow/66/68270666.html
I'll give him a call tomorrow, he unfortunately has someone coming view it tomorrow.
Anyhow, if anyone has bought off gumtree, let me know! Thanks. |

it's like ebay: you get honest people and scamming people. its the seller you need to be able to trust, not the site.
although ebay is a fuckload safer than gumtree
i find gumtree good for selling things. if you knock a decent ad up, it stands out among the hoards of "tiny shit pit bike wanted for £1" ads. sold my last bike on there within 10 hours of posting the ad. and i posted it at 3AM! ____________________ 57 Huoniao HN125-8 - , 97 Kawasaki GPZ500S -

i've bought a few bikes off gumtree & sold 2.
never had any problems (apart from getting emails months after i had sold a bike, because i forgot to remove the ad )
i'd rather use gumtree than ebay, simply because its free.
but this means you have to trawl through the scams, kids & timewasters.
just treat it lke any other free ads & take the usual precautions. (hpi etc)
cheers,

Hadn't heard of it till I came across this thread, but just listed my bike on there... https://luton.gumtree.com/luton/59/68620059.html
Shameless plug over!
I've used Pistonheads classifieds for years but it seems it has become a victim of its own success, it is a nightmare to navigate due to the sheer volume of ads. |

I've sold four genuine bikes through there now, so not all the sellers are scammers
If buying though, like anything else there are scum out there so use your common sense; don't hand over any money till you've seen the bike, checked the docs and ideally got the thing HPI'd.
But I've certainly got no qualms about buying bikes from there. Down here, the biggest scams on Gumtree seem to be in the flats to rent section rather than the motor vehicles. People renting at a good 20% under market value, and they happen to be on business in Switzerland so can't meet you personally with the keys. Luckily though, they will take a Western Union transfer to secure the flat ____________________ Those who make peaceful revolution impossible will make violent revolution inevitable. |

This.
Thankfully, most scam adverts (for rental properties at least) contain poor quality thumbnails that have clearly been pinched from somewhere. A lot of spelling and grammar errors, too (e.g. no genuine landlord in the UK will spell centre using the American version, center).
I'm not sure if bike ads on there are similar, but figured I'd mention it anyway. If in doubt, it's a scam. |
