Hi usually ride alone but wondered if there was anyone who would like to join for a tour in Sept.
I ride a 600 Hornet, averaging a max of 300 miles a day but try to do less. I do more on the boring bits. I camp along the way.
I am thinking of heading to Carcassonne then across to Grasse before going back home. the duration will be 11-12 days having to fit around work.
If anyone is interessted in coming along for all or some or is around that way for a beer let me know.
Simon.

Hi, barnhatter. Are you flexible with the date at all? I am going to be free in September, but it will only be a week.

Hi thanks for the reply.
I am not that free with my dates as they have to fit in with work.
I intend to start my trip on 3rd September and get home on the 14th. If are free on any of that time we could meet up and do part of it or even a couple of days.
To anyone else doing a similar thing might be nice to meet up for a drink on route.

Actually, that might be alright. Maybe just the last few days I'll have to leave out.

Sounds like a cool ride.

It's well in the future so I keep an eye on this thread to see how it develops

I do two trip's a year. One in the spring and one in the Autumn. The spring one I try and make it as long as possible as the weather tends to get better the longer you stay out. The Autumn one is a short one of about 10 to 14 day's. I like France so like the last chap I'll so will keep my eye on this.

For anyone thats interested I aim to get the 1400 train under the channel on the 3rd, cant get there any earlier as I am working night s the night before.
Head down to either Grasse or Carcassonne. not sure yet which way round. approx 4 days there, 1 day off, 2 days across the south then 1 day off then 4 days back home. these are rough plans. I will be camping on the trip and cooking, to save money. there is a campsite in Grasse and a good one in Carcassonne.
Not sure of the route as cant make up my mind which way round I want to go.
My interests and things I waant to see are historical sites and possibly anything else that interests. I like to try and stop to see something for ablot an hour during the day.
I know this sounds a bit boring but its the way I have done it abd touring alone you can get a bit selfish.
I am an open person who likes a laugh, and am easy to get on with.
Anyone interested mail me and lets chat, see if we can make it work.
Simon.

FYI there are some great roads from Carcassonne towards Perpignan, which will take you past the Cathar fortress at Peyrepeteuse IIRC, and Rennes le Chateau if you enjoy a bit of pseudo history (worth a visit for the road up and the view from the top). And if you find yourself near to a town called Maury, be sure to take a ride through the Gorge de Galamus. It's on the Michelin map Thumbs Up

Cheers for that I visited the cathar castle at Mineve 2 years ago on the way to Carcassonne. I liked the campsite and staying at Carcassonne. Met some guys from Scotland in the campsite and met them in a bar in the evening, Good to chat sometime.
The campsite is well placed with a swimming pool and 10 min walk from the city walls.
