If you're riding through winter and also part storing then you might want to do a little preparation.
A little grease on any parts not touched by you/clothing/brakes/tyres/luggage/etc. and not the engine. This will help prevent rust. The underside of the tank can be greased when/if removed. May look a bit mucky (I tidied that phrase up) in winter but wash off ok in summer. If you want to do the rims use silicon grease as this won't be thrown off onto the tyre.
Give it a wash and apply the likes of FS365. Then after a ride wash down with cold water to get rid of any road salt. One of those big pump up spray things they sell at garden centres works well rather than dragging a hosepipe out. Then reapply the FS365 (or alternative).
Might also want to get a trickle charger for the battery just to keep it topped up. Either remove it or if garage has power attach some fly leads to make connecting it easier. They don't like being in the cold.
