Why does my TDM eat a battery every winter? I don't buy crap batteries and I use it at least 35 miles Mon-Fri and usually nip out at weekends too.

It has an Alarm, LED running lights, Heated Grips and a 12v socket. The 12v socket is rarely used and the grips and the lights are wired to the ignition. I don't use the grips all the time only when It is cold. The bike lives outside.

I thought the alarm but The bike was left when I went to Canada for 3 weeks, not touched alarm on and it fired up instantly when I got back.

Is it just the pitfalls of leaving a bike outside over winter?

This, pretty much.

A local mechanic mate I get my work done in said that all year bikers tend to need a new battery when the weather turns cold. For some reason the first frost is a battery killer. I had to get one for the old bike. I thought perhaps it was to push a sale until I was fitting it into the new bike and another biker friend said pretty much the same thing.

I think its just one of those things.
